  The Department of Emergency Medicine at University of Iowa Health Care invites recent graduates and experienced faculty to apply for faculty positions. Successful candidates will be committed to providing patient-focused clinical care, education at all levels, and clinical research/scholarship. Salary, academic rank at the Assistant, Associate, or full Professor level, and faculty track are commensurate with the applicant's qualifications, experience, career goals, and research interests. Opportunities exist for involvement in all aspects of Emergency Medicine to include Pediatric Emergency Medicine, EMS, Ultrasound, Research, Toxicology, Hospice and Palliative Medicine, Critical Care, Sports Medicine, Global Medicine, Social Medicine, plus many others.

  The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics is a Level 1 Trauma Center for adults and children and the state of Iowa's only comprehensive academic medical center. We are one of the nation's largest university-owned teaching hospitals. The main Emergency Department features 45 private patient rooms; a separate Pediatric ED; combined annual volume of 55,000+ patients; physician double coverage with PA/ARNP support; and 8- or 12-hour shifts. The department also oversees a community emergency department with plans to expand sites. We host a medical student clerkship, emergency medicine residency program, and multiple fellowship programs.   Successful candidates will be required to self-disclose any misconduct history or pending research misconduct investigation including but not limited to sexual misconduct in prior employment and provide a related release and will be subject to a criminal background and credential check.

  Education Requirement:

  Applicants must have MD or DO degree (or equivalent) and be a graduate of an ACGME-accredited training program.Required Qualifications:

  Applicants must be board eligible, or board certified in Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine at time of hire.For appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or full Professor (clinical or tenure track), candidates must possess impeccable clinical skills, show evidence of strong organizational and leadership skills, and a demonstrated track record as an academic physician with a strong commitment to clinical excellence, medical education and research/scholarship.Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Iowa.Certifications:

  Applicants must be board eligible, or board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) by the time of hire.Desirable Qualifications:

  Fellowship training to include Pediatric Emergency Medicine, EMS, Ultrasound, Research, Toxicology, Hospice and Palliative Medicine, Critical Care, Sports Medicine, Global Medicine, and Social Medicine.
