Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of LEO satellites that will provide broadband connectivity to underserved communities around the world.As an Antenna Engineer you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary team to develop and execute tests of phased array antennas and customer terminals using our state-of-the-art spherical near-field antenna test systems.You'll design new antenna test systems to dramatically accelerate antenna beam pattern test, dynamic beam pointing test, and link verification, and build the de-facto fastest Ka-band antenna test system in the world.Your will leverage your experience in antenna design to interpret the results in both near field and far field and isolate issues relative to RF circuit, test equipment, setup, array calibration and software/RF system.You will exercise pragmatism and write automation to devise test setups and procedures that are simple, easy to develop and maintain, yet able to perform all requirement verification tasks.You'll use documentation and communication skills to report test metrics and requirement pass/fail to Antenna designer, Array designers, Software team, and other teams.Export Control RequirementDue to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.Key job responsibilities- Develop new techniques to measure and accelerate the test of digital phased array systems and customer terminals in near field chambers, and work with SysDev engineers to implement such techniques.- Develop automation routines to control equipment (ATE) and our custom-made antenna test system to accelerate antenna beam pattern test.- Implement, validate, and optimize lab and chamber test configurations- Develop required post-processing to analyze test results- Document and interpret test results, troubleshoot issues, performing root-cause analysis for any test failures- Communicate status and issues effectively with developers and managers- Meet with suppliers to select enabling lab technologies.- Shepherd antennas and customer terminals through test campaigns throughout the development lifecycle, from concept to implementation to integration.We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:Redmond, WA, USA- 2+ years of hardware design and validation of components, subsystems and systems experience- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, material science, physics or equivalent- 2+ years of professional, non-internship experience EM modeling in 2.5D and 3D EM tools- 2+ years of experience in RF design and modeling with linear and non-linear simulation tools- 2+ years of experience with MATLAB- Experience with lab work and RF test equipment- Master's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, material science, physics or equivalent- Strong foundations in antennas: Impedance matching, theoretical and practical limitations of antennas- Excellent mathematical skills- Experience with Near Field test and NF2FF transform of antennas and phased arrays (planar, spherical or Satimo-multiprobe)- Design experience of RF building blocks such as filters, hybrids, combiners- Experience with active RF circuits and front-end designOur compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $77,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $215,600/year in our highest geographic market.
