  Position Overview

  As an Electrical Estimator, you will prepare, review and present discipline estimates for specific project proposal activities. In this role, you will provide estimating assistance and guidance to projects, develop conceptual estimates and perform cost analysis. You will be responsible for assisting in the development of discipline estimates, developing and updating historical databases, and assisting in the development of department procedures. You will provide direction to others on estimate specific level tasks as required. #LI-HM1

  Ganotec is a full service, heavy industrial contractor serving the industrial sector across Canada. Ganotec typically self performs all major disciplines including, civil, structural steel erection, heavy mechanical equipment installation, process piping and electrical / instrumentation and controls. We conduct our business through a variety of commercial contract styles including full turnkey, EPC, design build, T&M and conventional discipline packages. We have always been a strong proponent of “partnering”, working in collaboration with owners, major equipment suppliers and engineers at the early stages of the project development phase to allow for a more cost-effective execution strategy for the project.   Location

  This position is based in Pointes-aux-Trembles, Montréal, Québec.

  Responsibilities

  Prepare cost estimates on work for major projects locally and across Canada

  Develop comprehensive estimates for large and complex works

  Review the owner's plans and specifications to gain a comprehensive understanding of the project; develop a plan for actual construction as the basis for the estimate

  Review all tender and contract documents and advice from the home office legal department

  Coordinate with other disciplines such as planning, scheduling, procurement, and proposal team

  Determine installation quantities based on drawings and specifications

  Prepare and present your estimate to management and external clients

  Collaborate for the continuous improvement of the methods and processes for developing estimates for the entire team

  Coordinate with other disciplines such as planning, scheduling, procurement, and proposal team

  Maintain a professional and trustworthy relationship with clients, professionals, subcontractors and suppliers

  Qualifications

  Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering

  3 to 7 years of relevant experience in electrical estimating for major projects: heavy industrial, civil, hydropwer etc.

  Excellent knowledge of the Canadian construction market

  Excellent communication in French and English skills

  Effective presentation and negotiation skills

  Advanced computer skills. Knowledge of MS Office, and BlueBeam software is an asset

  Experience in industrial, hydro, oil and gas and mining is an asset.

  Must be open to travel as required to visit project sites or meet with clients for estimate specific needs

  Well organized, flexible, team player, detail oriented and multi-tasked.

  Prioritize workload and consistently meet deadlines while constantly changing tasks and demands

  Functional knowledge of English (written and verbal) is considered as an asset since mobility across provinces in Canada is required. Lessons can be provided as needed.
