We're working to develop reusable, safe, andlow-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our diverse team of problem solvers as weadd new chapters to the history of spaceflight! This position is part of the Space Systems Development (SSD) businessunit. SSD develops next-generation concepts and systems to advance our futureof living and working in space sustainably.
As part of a hardworking team of diverse spacecraft development engineers, you will define on the electrical power subsystem of our innovative spacevehicles. This role is integral to the success of our missions, requiring adeep understanding of spacecraft power systems, including batteries, solararrays, power distribution, and conversion. Our ideal candidate is someonewho not only excels in the design and development of electrical power systemcomponents but also demonstrates a profound commitment to our bold mission.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Design and develop electrical power subsystem components including spacecraftbatteries, solar arrays, efficient power distribution and conversionelectronics, and wire harnessing.
Develop and maintain electrical power subsystem requirements anddocumentation.
Conduct detailed trade studies that result in selecting optimalmission-suitable subsystem hardware.
Develop and manage the spacecraft powered equipment list that tracks loadpower usage in all mission scenarios.
Conduct concise subsystem analyses, including orbit energy balance, voltage drop, peak power usage, and system efficiency.
Conduct thorough electrical module analyses, including Worst Case CircuitAnalysis (WCCA), part stress analysis, signal integrity, powerintegrity, and Failure Mode, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
Develop the system power quality specification and ensure compliance to it byall system hardware.
Flow requirements down from vehicle to component level and facilitateverification and validation of those requirements.
Expertly troubleshoot and resolve complex issues with the vehicle electricalpower system components - finding root cause and implementing correctiveactions.
