  Idaho National Laboratory’s (INL)) Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) Electrical Controls and Structural Engineering group is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as an Electrical Engineer.

  Our team works an onsite 4x10 schedule located at our Materials and Fuels Complex with every Friday off!

  Responsibilities Include:

  The Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking applicants for an experienced Electrical Engineer to provide design and system engineering within a group reporting to the Electrical, Controls, and Structural Engineering Department Manager.

  INL is recognized as the lead national laboratory for DOE-NE, providing much of the nuclear research, development, and demonstration capability needed to move nuclear innovation forward to deployment. MFC hosts a unique combination of personnel, facilities and infrastructure and offers the ability to perform research and development of nuclear fuels from fuel design, development and fabrication through post irradiated analysis.

  The experienced electrical engineer applies engineering knowledge, practice and techniques to solve applied and operational problems with facility electrical systems (including switchgear, MCC equipment, motors, motor controls, variable frequency drives, communications, fire alarm systems and HVAC control systems used for research applications), and in the areas of R&D for Nuclear Programs, National and Homeland Security, and Energy and Environment. The candidate must be able to apply sound knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices in a broad array of assignments related to electrical systems. He or she will perform design of electrical equipment and systems, assist in developing and reviewing potential electrical projects, and oversee engineering support during electrical project implementations.

  Develop engineering deliverables associated with their designs which may include technical and functional requirements (T&FR), drawings, system design descriptions (SDD), test reports, procurement specifications, statements of work, qualification plans, work control documents, design reports, and engineering changes.

  Utilize electrical engineering skills to develop design packages for both construction contractors and in-house labor installations. Works with the user representatives, craft personnel, and contractors to implement the approved designs.

  May work under the guidance of a Project Engineer or may be the lead engineer or the only electrical engineer on multidiscipline teams on projects with defined scope and schedule.

  Minimum Requirements:

  PRO300/PRO400 BS in Electrical Engineering or other closely related field and 5-11 years relevant experience, or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field and 3-7 years relevant experienceExperience with configuration management of drawings and engineering documentation3-5 years of relevant design experience including drawing creation and working with fabrication/constructionCompetency in the National Electrical Code or National Electrical Safety Code.Knowledge of electrical safety fundamentals including NFPA 70E.Must be a US Citizen and have the ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a DOE “L" clearance

  Preferred Requirements:**

  Knowledge of electrical equipment maintenance, short circuit and arc flash calculations, and other consensus codes and standards.

  Knowledge of building/equipment automation and control systems.Two or more years of nuclear facility engineering experience.Proficiency with SKM PowerTools or similar software.Professional license.
