Electrical Design Engineer - Transit & Rail | Hybrid | New York, NY | Newark, NJ
VHB is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join our dynamic growing Transportation practice in the Northeast. This position provides an opportunity to work on complex transit infrastructure projects and play an important role in expanding and shaping the group.
Responsibilities
Prepare design drawings and documents, technical specifications, cost estimates, proposals, calculations, and studies associated with transit and rail traction power systems
Prepare final design document preparation for traction power/station distribution, facility power, signal power and security systems on several types of transit infrastructure projects in NYWorks on plans, specifications, reports, and analyses to meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirementsReview contractor design drawings and specifications to ensure system requirements are metSkills and Attributes
Familiarity of railway power distribution systems design preferredDemonstrated excellence in verbal presentations and technical writingTeam oriented with strong capability to work independentlyRobust technical and critical thinking skillsDetail oriented and quality focusedStrong project/task management skillsQualifications
5-8 years of electrical design engineering experience required8-11 years of experience preferredAutoCAD or MicroStation proficiency requiredSystem Analysis Software (eTAP or SKM) familiarity is a plusBS in Electrical Engineering or related field of study required, Master's preferredEngineer-In-Training (EIT) or PE license preferredOur best estimate of the salary range for this position located in New York City is $92,000-135,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
