Overall Summary The Electrical Controls Engineer troubleshoots, designs, modifies, documents, assembles and installs equipment to expand capabilities and increase efficiencies. The individual in this role interacts with different systems and equipment to facilitate error-free manufacturing of a wide variety of new product types. They also provide guidance and continuous improvement of existing equipment. Primary Duties/Responsibilities: *Maintain documentation to ensure accurate and current equipment specifications and capabilities. *Assist with creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for process definitions and forms. *Collaborate in the design of production equipment to meet customer requirements as needed. *Troubleshoot, install and program PLCs, HMIs, Servos and controllers, in new or existing applications to repair or enhance functionality. *Modify existing equipment to enhance quality and improve run speeds and output levels. *Test and validate production equipment ensuring safety standards. *Provide technical support to internal departments and outsource partners when required. *Add new projects to data base and keep existing documentation updated. *Use Lean manufacturing techniques to minimize operating costs and improve output. *Ensure that all work is completed accurately and by the required deadlines. *Responsible to maintain "listed and labeled" data base.Work with third party vendor to bring non-compliant equipment up to present electrical code. *Assess equipment ground fault potentials and label equipment accordingly. *Maintain quality standards and ensure safety regulations are upheld. *Perform other duties as applicable or assigned. Required Skills/Abilities/Competencies: *Microsoft Office Suite proficiency, especially Excel. *Proficiency or ability to learn AutoCAD Electrical software. *Proficiency or ability to learn RSlogix PLC programming software.Background with testing and validation of production equipment specifications preferred. *Self-motivated and able to work independently but also collaborate with internal operations teams. *Ability to prioritize projects to consistently meet deadlines. *Strong analytical skills and mathematical aptitude; ability to problem-solve. *Detail oriented and highly organized. *Strong verbal and written communication skills. Education and Experience: *2+ years of vocational/technical education, preferable in electrical repair. *Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering discipline a plus. *Class "A" Minnesota Journeyperson license a plus. *5+ years of experience in an industrial setting. Physical Requirements: *Ability to work 8 hours consecutively. *Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on computer. *Ability to maintain an active physical presence on the production floor; this position may require sitting, walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, climbing, moving, reaching overhead, and lifting up to 50 pounds. *Comfortable working at heights in an aerial lift. *May be exposed to loud noise, outdoor climates, and confined spaces (PPE is provided). *Ability to adjust work hours to accommodate business needs; this may include some evenings, and weekends, and holidays according to the shift schedule. *Upper extremity motion requirements: fine motor movements, pushing/pulling with arms, grasping and pinching. *Lower extremity motion requirements: reaching. *Pre-employment post-offer physical assessment required.
