General Description
The Liberty Partnerships Program is a college readiness initiative funded by the NYSED and serves middle and high school students attending schools throughout the borough of Queens. The program is an all-year after-school, weekend and summer activity.
The program is looking for an ELA/CCR Instructor to work closely with the Case Management Team to assist students achieve their educational goals. This position is grant-funded.
Other Duties
Under the supervision of the Project Director and Case Mangement Specialist will:
Develop curricula for the Common Core ELA and CCR workshops and submit a class description with a syllabus before the first day of classes.
Practice effective classroom management. Keep accurate attendance records.
Deliver the instructional material of the subject, while keeping students engaged and motivated.
Work as a team with the Art Instructors to teach literacy through the Arts.
Establish an atmosphere of discipline in the classroom and a comfortable environment for all students.
Attend mandatory orientation and professional development meetings.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Graduate degree in the field preferred.
Must have at least 2 year's experience teaching JHS and HS students.
Must be supportive and consistent with students' scheduled instruction sessions.
Must be able to operate audio/visual equipment in the classroom.
