Position Summary Worksindependently to further the aims of his/her research project, includingdevelopment and elucidation of scientific aims, experimental design andexecution, as well as publication and/or presentation of results.Research activities are geared toward successful submission ofapplications for independent research funding. Incumbent is expected todevelop a faculty position at a local University/Medical School at theAssistant Professor level. Appointment or promotion to the ResearchInvestigator Track is subject to approval by the Appointment andPromotions Committee and the Director for Research. ResponsibilitiesDefines and implements a fundable research program. Obtains funding fromsources outside of the BCW. Holds a faculty appointment at the AssistantProfessor Level at a local University/Medical School. Maintains anactive scientific publications record. Contributes to growth andviability of BCW Science and Technology programs. Mentors pre/postdoctoral Fellows and Research Scientists. Has supervisory and managementresponsibilities within the laboratory group. Trains, directs, andmentors staff within the laboratory group. Directs laboratory andresearch meetings. Adheres to BCW, Bio-safety, NRC and OSHA proceduresand regulations. Grant administration and budget responsibilities Mayprepare and/or authorize requisitions for ordering supplies andequipment.
