The State of New Hampshire, Department of Safety, Division of Motor Vehicles has a full-time vacancy for a Licensing Examiner I (Dover), which has a 40-hour work week and is non-exempt.
SCOPE OF WORK: Administers a variety of tests and driving skills examinations to applicants to ensure that only qualified individuals are issued operator driver licenses and motorcycle driver licenses. Reviews applicant information for consistency with applicable motor vehicle laws and administrative rules, to ensure that applicants are eligible to apply for and receive a New Hampshire driver license, non-driver identification card or other official document.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Provides first-rate customer service, by administering driving skills examinations, through applicant on and off road performance tests in automobiles, and on motorcycles, to ensure adequate driving ability prior to issuing a driver license.
Qualifiesor disqualifies applicants foradriver license based on results ofdriving skillsexaminations.Recordspertinent information about the examinationsandprepares and submitsvariousreports ofdriverlicensing activitiesin the appropriate format.
Ensuresthat applicants have completed and passed the requiredknowledgeexaminationand have abasicunderstandingof New Hampshire motor vehicle laws, prior toadministeringthedrivingskills examination.
Ensuresthat applicants have completed and passed the vision screening examination,confirmingthat theapplicants vision meets motor vehicle law requirements, prior to completing the drivingskills examination.
Assistscounter personnel with applicant questions and concerns. Assistswithreviewing applicantdocumentationfor accuracy,validity and authenticity.
Answers questionsfrom the general publicat the customer counter and on the telephoneregarding NewHampshire motor vehicle laws,driverlicensing, formsandprocedures in accordance with the Privacy Act. Answersapplicant questions regarding thedrivingskills examinations.
Provides support to Cash Terminal Operator positions, as needed, byoperating and utilizing DMV computer hardware and software, entering applicant data, capturing applicant signaturesand images, and assisting at the customer greeting station.
Maintains assigned office for efficient service of the public. Assistswith checking equipment for properoperation including the vision screening hardware.Assistswith maintainingproper inventory and securityof applications, manuals, document materials and supplies.Notifies management ofanyfacilityissues.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1.5 Years of additional relevant experience = Associate's Degree
3 Years of additional relevant experience = Bachelor's Degree
4.5 Years additional relevant experience = Master's Degree
Education:High school diploma or high school equivalency credential.
Experience:Three years of experience in instruction, training, customer service, driving work or a related field.
License/Certification:
Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to obtain a Motorcycle License within six (6) months of hire. Licenses must be free of motor vehicle violations that are determined by the Director of Motor Vehicles to be disqualifying.
Must maintain Defensive Driving Certification.
Must successfully complete the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) Driver icensing Examiner Certification Program within twelve (12) months of hire, or as scheduled.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be at least 21 years of age at time of appointment.
Selected candidate will undergo a fingerprint-based criminal background check and motor vehicle record check in order to ensure suitability for exposure to confidential information.
Selected candidate(s) will be required to attend and successfully complete an intensive multi-week training program of classroom and on-the-job training, with weekly evaluations to ensure compatibility, suitability and ability to learn the complex motor vehicle systems, various road examinations, computer systems, processes, procedures, forms and transactions, while providing first-rate customer service in an expedient, timely, accurate and polite manner in a high volume customer service area or workstation. Continued employment is contingent upon successfully completing all aspects of the training program within the first six (6) months of employment.
Must be willing to attend additional training sessions to expand and maintain knowledge of Driver's License regulations.
Position requires travel throughout the state and work at various satellite offices and testing locations, as well as work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
May be required to work a flexible schedule including, but not limited to, early morning, evening, and/or weekend hours.
Must wear seatbelt during all driving skills examinations.
