Hourly Rate: $16.24
Ends: August 16, 2024
Hours: 15-40 hours per week
Workdays/Times: Monday-Friday shifts between 7:30 am - 6:00 pm
some evenings/weekendsPosition responsible for assisting with leading and teaching participants in a variety of indoor and outdoor recreational activities. Expertise is diverse and not specialized to any single discipline. Incumbent follows a prescribed activity schedule, instructs group activities, provides continuous supervision, facilitates special projects with participants, and provides behavior management. Position requires incumbent to be able to actively participate through physical engagement with participants during indoor and outdoor activities such as local hikes, swimming, athletic field games and activities, and gym/playground games and activities.
Responsibilities include reporting participants’ issues, program supply needs, and contributing to daily updates with fellow staff and supervisors.
Duties/Responsibilities
Assists in organizing youth and adult sports, games and activities, arts and crafts, music and drama, and other recreational activities.
Maintains order and discipline, issues and collects equipment.
Acts as a role model for participants, fellow staff and volunteers.
Assists in planning and conducting special events and projects and encourages volunteer participation.
Assists with program set up and housekeeping tasks as needed.
Attends and participates in staff meetings, in-service training programs, orientations, and evaluation sessions.
Completes evaluation forms at the end of the program.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
-Child development.
-Basic arts and crafts.
-Elementary math, science, writing, etc.
SKILLED IN:
Interacting with children. -Organizing and actively facilitating a variety of recreational and social activities.
Communicating instructions effectively to individuals and groups.
Adhering to program standards and objectives.
Following directions and completing assigned tasks.
Exhibiting character, integrity, and adaptability.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
Requires the ability to read, write and follow directions.
Must be at least 16 years of age.
A valid Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED – with Anaphylaxis and Epinephrine Auto Injector Certification within the first six months of employment.
Additional Preferred Skills
Available to work at least 15 hours per week between 7:30 a.m. - 6:00 pm Monday - Friday and some evenings and weekends.
Available from June 3, 2024 through June 14, 2024 for required orientation.
Available for at least 7 out of 8 weeks from June 17, 2024 through August 16, 2024 for summer camp programming.
Enjoy working with children.
Able to be participate with youth in a variety of physically active games and activities that may require some running and/or standing.
