  Job Description

  The Director, Operational Risk and Business Resilience Management (ORBRM), will report to and support the head of ORBRM Governance, Operational Excellence and Engagement. The Director will be responsible for delivering or overseeing various function capabilities including but not limited to quality and performance assessments, Operational Risk and Resilience tooling, external engagement interactions as well as support the development of and execution roadmap for the function’s strategy.

  The Director is responsible for assisting in the risk and resilience management oversight activities and will serve as a leading practice expert on Operational Risk and Resilience Management. The Director is responsible for supporting the development and execution of the Operational Risk and Resilience Frameworks and for providing oversight of and reporting on the Operational Risk and Resilience activities.

  Key Responsibilities:

  Work with Operational Risk and Resilience (including Enterprise Risk) colleagues across the globe to develop and coordinate the maintenance of the risk policies and standards that make up the Operational Risk and Business Resilience Management Frameworks (“the Frameworks”).

  Collaborate with ORBRM colleagues and partners to develop and monitor ORBRM performance and quality metrics.

  Oversee quality assessment activities and develop practical improvement plans, communicated with stakeholders and driven through to implementation.

  Support the execution of function improvement programs including enhancements to Risk Programs.

  Support the development of the function strategy and roadmap.

  Oversee the publication and distribution of relevant risk reporting including but not limited to the Operational Risk Committee and materials provided to regulators.

  Support external stakeholder and regulatory engagement activities including intake, triage, compilation, validate and distribution of risk related information

  Educate and train businesses on risk management frameworks and associated risk policies and standards.

  Oversee ORBRM involvement with and contributions to the group risk tooling (e.g. Archer, Fusion Risk Management)

  Ensure continuous and effective line of communication across appropriate Lines of Defense risk teams.

  Promote a strong risk culture and oversee relevant risk culture assessment processes.

  Influence and gain support from the senior leadership team and segments to support the implementation of the Frameworks, including when necessary the allocation of additional resources. Train business unit and functional resources to implement the risk management programs within their areas.

  Participate in high risk projects and change management initiatives, providing advice to project sponsors and resources on operational risk management activities.

  Job Requirements:

  A background in risk management, operations, audit, compliance or technology, with 10+ years of experience and a track record demonstrating increasing responsibility.

  Experience working with regulators is strongly valued.

  Very strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills are a must. The successful candidate must be a strong champion of the Operational Risk and Resilience Framework(s) and demonstrate value such that the senior leadership team of each business and function will be engaged and commit resources to the program. Very strong relationship building skills will be required to form and cultivate a strong working relationship with many resources across the Company.

  Strong project management skills and experience. Will manage multiple initiatives across many different business units. The ability to get meaningful participation and support from many different resources and other departments will be critical to success.

  Highly developed business acumen, with a pragmatic approach to solving problems and implementing solutions. Act as a consultant to the businesses and assist in designing approaches to the implementation of the ORBRM Framework that work for each business.

  Experience with or understanding of operational procedures at financial institution (preferably insurance).

  Experience in designing, implementing, and validating the effectiveness of operational controls is strongly valued.

  Working knowledge of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), Operational Risk Management (ORM) and Operational Resilience (OR) regulatory requirements and leading practices (i.e. frameworks and processes) is a plus.

  Salary & Benefits

  The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

  Primary Location

  Toronto, Ontario

  Salary range is expected to be between

  $103,050.00 CAD - $185,490.00 CAD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
