POSITION SUMMARY:
Directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination and evaluation of the human resource function for the entire company.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:
Responsible for improvement of the organization's policies, procedures and practices on personnel matters;
Maintains knowledge of industry trends , employment legislation and ensures organization's compliance with federal, state and local legislation pertaining to all personnel matters, communicating appropriately;
Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization’s human resource strategy and employee engagement particularly as they relate to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning;
Responsibility for corporate compensation program, annual reviews and associated systems;
Assists management in the annual review, preparation and administration of the organization's wage and salary program;
Consults with legal counsel as appropriate, or as directed by the President and/or COO, on personnel matters;
Partner with management at all levels to ensure fair and consistent treatment of all employees, education of and adherence to employment laws and regulations.
Recommends, evaluates and participates in staff development for the organization
Develops and maintains a human resource information system that meets the organization's personnel information needs
Supervises, coach, mentor and develop staff of the human resource department
Participates on committees and special projects, as needed
Provides support and guidance to HR generalists, management, and other staff regarding sensitive employee relations questions and issues such as reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations
Manages the talent acquisition process for hourly positions across all Rochester NY sites, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings
Works with managers on development of their staff
Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations for the Rochester NY sites.
Oversees employee disciplinary process in ADP; approves corrective actions and termination requests.
Review and approve all plant, hourly performance appraisals (90-day and annual). Provide feedback and guidance as needed.
Provide support and guidance to management on Performance Improvement Plans as needed. Provide daily support to management and employees on inquiries and concerns
Manage employee relations complaints. Delegate to human resource generalist where appropriate.
Initiate investigation process for harassment and discrimination complaints. Delegate to human resource generalist where appropriate. Involved in all discussions regarding findings and provides guidance on determinations. Consult with legal counsel as appropriate
Back up to human resource generalists for absences/vacations/LOA; - this should be the HR Associates
Main contact and coordinator for all SEDEX/SMETA audits; responsible for documentation preparation, work with auditors and responding to any corrective actions to remain in compliance with customer requirements
Responsibility for corporate department budget;
Attend and participate in company and employee appreciation events;
Report food safety & quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action
Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
8-10 years experience in Human Resources managementWORKING CONDITIONS:
Regularly required to sit, use hands
Occasionally need to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, with a potential of up to 25 pounds
Sedentary office environment
Occasional exposure to manufacturing plant floor requiring the use of personal protective equipment (ear plugs, safety glasses, bump cap, skid-resistant leather shoes, etc.)
Must follow Good Manufacturing Practice (hair net, no jewelry, no fake nails or eyelashes, no food/drink, gum, etc. in manufacturing Plant)
