  ABOUT UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSIONS

  Undergraduate Admissions supports outreach and recruitment strategy, admission policy and processes, and yield initiatives for domestic and international first-year, transfer, adult and non-degree students enrolling on the Athens campus and in OHIO Online programs. The Undergraduate Admissions team is comprised of more than 50 full-time staff members, including a talented recruitment team based in Athens, as well as a growing team of strategically positioned staff members in key markets throughout the U.S. and around the world. Undergraduate Admissions supports colleges, schools, and departments in the pursuit of academically specific recruitment and admission goals.

  LEADERSHIP PROFILE & POSITION SUMMARY

  Position Summary: The Director develops and leads recruitment and enrollment strategies that improve access to all of Ohio University’s campuses and prioritize inclusion in OHIO’s enrollment efforts. This position serves as a liaison between Undergraduate Admissions and other areas within Enrollment Management, the Division of Diversity and Inclusion, academic and administrative units, and regional campuses and centers to ensure strategic and functional alignment of recruitment and yield efforts as well as admissions processes. The Director leads efforts to identify and nurture enrollment-focused relationships with community-based organizations and other external constituents that promote college access. The Director is also responsible for the development, implementation, and assessment of strategic and tactical recruitment and yield plans, leveraging a strategic embedded market-based approach within Ohio and across the U.S. for all OHIO’s campuses with specific attention to the five regional campuses. This position manages and directs the work of professional staff members in Athens and on the five regional campuses and provides oversight for associated student organizations in Undergraduate Admissions. Serves as an active member of the Undergraduate Admissions recruitment and leadership teams and participates in the admission application review processes. This position will report to the Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management and Executive Director of Undergraduate Admissions.

  KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  Leadership and Management: Serves on and collaborates with the Undergraduate Admissions leadership team in the development and implementation of an inclusive, comprehensive, data driven, strategic recruitment plan that centers access and drives undergraduate enrollment across all OHIO’s campuses. Provides leadership and expertise essential to achieving University enrollment goals. Assesses recruitment and yield activities for effectiveness and provides recommendations for continuation or replacement of those activities. Analyzes landscape to craft narratives and reports that aid in crafting strategic directions.

  Recruits, selects, trains, manages and supervises admissions professionals and student employees located on each of OHIO’s campuses and embedded in strategic markets within Ohio and across the U.S. Ensures access and market-based initiatives and associated programming are in alignment with other office activities. Trains staff on best practices and external regulations related to the field. Guides staff in the development and attainment of enrollment goals utilizing a territory or constituent management model. Oversees staff members’ territory management plans for effective use of resources and data in determining and implementing overall strategies and practices. Prioritizes the fulfillment of student inquiries through leveraging people and technology resources such as the office’s constituent relationship management tool. Forecasts and monitors staff budgetary expenditures. In consultation with the AVP /Executive Director, oversees the hiring and performance management processes for team members. Provides direction and oversight to student organizations associated with enrollment initiatives.

  In consultation with the Vice President for Enrollment Management and the AVP /Executive Director, develops and maintains strong relationships with key internal and external counterparts and stakeholders through regular communication and interactions. Partners with the AVP and Executive Director of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships on scholarship and aid initiatives that supports access and student success at OHIO . Serves as the division’s primary liaison between Enrollment Management and the Division of Diversity and Inclusion. Maintains close collaboration and communication with the Executive Director of DD&I. Serves as a primary liaison between Undergraduate Admissions and the Student Services Directors at OHIO’s regional campuses.

  Develops and implements educational opportunities to support access and strategic recruitment. Provides ongoing guidance and support for the division-wide Access, Diversity, and Inclusion Work Group.

  Provides oversight for office activities as necessary. Assists the AVP /Executive Director through the development, training, and management of office personnel. Represents the AVP /Executive Director in their absence as needed.

  Access Initiatives: Responsible for the development, implementation, and assessment of inclusive strategic and tactical plans for the recruitment, admission and yield of students from all backgrounds, using data to inform this work. Ensures alignment of efforts between Enrollment Management and the Division of Diversity and Inclusion, academic and administrative units, and regional campuses and centers, as those efforts relate to access and inclusion initiatives. Develops relationships and serves as a liaison to work collaboratively with alumni, school districts, community-based organizations, and other external constituency groups in the implementation of inclusive recruitment, admission, and yield efforts of students so Ohio University can enroll an increasingly diverse student body. Coordinates with Enrollment Management, DD&I, and academic partners to develop and implement on- and off-campus recruitment and yield programs and recruitment campaigns/messages that is inclusive of all students. Collaborates with University and external partners to direct the development of college access and pipeline initiatives for middle and high school students to OHIO . Identifies strategic partnership opportunities and builds relationships with Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) within OHIO’s primary and secondary recruiting markets.

  Regional Campus and Market-Based Initiatives: Responsible for the development, implementation, and assessment of strategic and tactical plans for the recruitment, admission, and yield of students leveraging a team of regional recruitment managers embedded in strategic markets within Ohio and across the U.S, including on OHIO’s regional campuses. Ensures alignment of efforts between Enrollment Management units, RHE , and other academic and administrative units to recruit, admit, and enroll students to the regional campuses. Develops relationships and serve as a liaison to work collaboratively with academic and administrative offices, alumni, school districts, community-based organizations, and external constituency groups to help achieving the enrollment goals for the regional campuses. Coordinates efforts with Enrollment Management, RHE , and academic partners to develop and implement on- and off-campus recruiting, and yield programs and marketing campaigns/messages directed towards students and influencers in each regional campus’ service area.

  Recruitment, Admission and Yield: Serves as a member of the Undergraduate Admissions recruitment team. Participates in the day-to-day management of Undergraduate Admissions’ engagement with prospective students ensuring timely inquiry fulfillment and excellent customer service. Represents the University both on- and off-campus to a wide variety of constituents, including prospective students and their families, secondary and postsecondary school personnel, community-based organizations, and other individuals or organizations involved in the college selection process. Counsels and advises constituents on a range of admission and enrollment processes. Maintains thorough knowledge of trends in the field of admissions and advises constituents on the breadth and depth of opportunities available at OHIO . Provides exceptional customer service by attending to the needs of internal and external constituents in a timely and accurate manner. Evaluates applications and supplemental materials for the purposes of making admission decisions. Conducts thorough, holistic, selective review of an applicant’s candidacy. Determines necessary documentation to support an admission decision and recommends appropriate alternative pathways when admission cannot be offered. Travels around Ohio, nationally, and/or internationally as needed to participate in school visits, college fairs, and programs. Plans, implements, and assesses on- and off-campus recruitment and yield activities as needed.

  Minimum Qualifications:

  Bachelor’s degree is required by start date.

  Minimum of 6 years of related work experience.

  Minimum of 3 years personnel management experience, which may include supervision of part-time or student employees or volunteer management.

  Preferred Qualifications:

  Preferred, but not required, qualifications include:

  Master’s degree

  Demonstrated knowledge of best practices and understanding of the unique opportunities and challenges related to the recruitment, admission, and enrollment of students from diverse backgrounds.

  Demonstrated experience working with high school and college age students from diverse backgrounds.

  Experience with personnel management within the admissions profession;

  Multi-lingual

  Advertised Salary:

  Based on extensive benchmarking data, the Director position is mapped to Pay Grade CA&P 18 at OHIO , with a target hiring range of $58,972.00-$68,556. The exact base salary for the selected candidate will be negotiable, commensurate with education and experience, and competitive in the field within the context of similarly situated positions at public universities nationally.
