About Director, Insights - Unpublished R&D Product

Riot’s mission is to put players at the center of everything we do.  We do this by continuing to evolve and deliver new experiences to players with games like Teamfight Tactics, Legends of Runterra, VALORANT, and League of Legends: Wild Rift. Riot is also expanding into the world of music/multimedia with the release of our animated series Arcane and music from KDA and True Damage.  In short - it’s an exciting time to be a Rioter.

As a Director, Insights (R&D) at Riot, you will be a member of the game’s leadership team focused on helping them deeply understand their audience and opportunities, building actionable strategic and business plans; helping to drive strategy into operations on the development team; monitoring performance against targets; driving improvements to our processes and systems to support better decision making; and building, managing, and operating a team that can meet the Insights needs of the product. Since the role touches on all parts of the product and business, the role will require a leader that has broad experience in Insights and game development. You will report to the Senior Director, Product Management of the project.

Responsibilities:

Maintain strategy & audience understanding for the game and help to operationalize that strategy by ensuring the development team's efforts are aligned with the critical path of creating a successful product & business and are executed effectively and efficiently

Workforce planning, staffing, and hiring for Insights positions on the BU

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Psychology, Economics, Mathematics or a related discipline plus 9 years of relevant experience (an advanced degree can account for up to 2 years of experience)

Familiarity with both analytics and research and 5+ years experience in at least one of those crafts.

3+ years experience managing high performing individuals and teams

3+ years experience working directly in game development

Experience participating in strategy development for a product or business in a leadership capacity and helping to operationalizing that strategy via ownership or advisory

Excellent teamwork, team leadership, communication, collaboration and stakeholder management

Experience building and leading cross-functional teams

Desired Qualifications:

Experience advising teams on product and game design problems by applying a combination of a broad & deep gaming background, game design craft, and product strategy thinking

Experience leading complex efforts with multiple collaborators

For this role, you'll find success through craft expertise and a collaborative spirit that prioritizes the delight of players. We will look at your past studies and experience, but for this role, we also look for dedicated people with a personal relationship with games. If you embody player empathy and care about players' experiences, this is the role for you!
