Created in 2015 to align, lighten and modernize infrastructure, the Technology & Infrastructure (T & I) team is the backbone and the future forward arm of CBC/Radio-Canada. This role is a hybrid work arrangement. Work schedule to be discussed with Hiring Manager according to the guidelines defined by the department.
Your role
As the Director of this department you will direct a group of six managers who will be responsible for supervising employees with the primary job function of maintaining and supporting the technology used to produce and present content enjoyed by our Radio-Canada audiences.
The primary requirement needed to succeed in this role is to be a person who is a natural human centric leader; capable of leading the department’s personnel as well as continuously interacting with our production partners. Strong communication skills, innovative problem solving skills and a compassionate approach provided to those in need of support are musts in addition to management competencies.
The director should have proven experience in leading leaders; using coaching, mentoring and various means of communication, allowing them to fully understand immediate and long term issues which may occur when operating in 24/7 support environments.
The director must possess a strategic mindset using critical thinking to adjust to the changing needs of the department and its mission.

Strategic Development
Develop a sustainable support strategy which addresses the CBC/Radio-Canada’s Infrastructure Support needs:
Developing a creative approach to continuous improvement and departmental and personnel development is paramount.
Determine how to migrate from a product specific broadcast system support team to a more or well rounded team associated with IP systems for content production and presentation,
Develop a strategy associated with overall support of large component entities such as regional and national network based distribution, digital edit systems including asset management.
Develop a strategy which includes a collaboration method involving all T&I and D&O departments.
Strategically elevate concepts such as Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, Women in Technology and Employee Wellness as pillars associated with a modern support department. Focus on improving retention, development and recruitment actions which support true team or community development.
Tactical Duties
Work with Finance Colleagues to deliver a balanced budget, looking for cost saving and efficiency improvements.
Work with People and Culture to address staffing issues such as workload, career progression/development and recruitment.
Have a full understanding of all the production resources utilised at the various Montreal locations: MRC, vMRC, Grande and Warehouse.
Utilise critical thinking and data driven decision making in navigating complex issues, organisational structure, resource utilisation and process development/optimisation
Personal Development
Participate in People and Culture, Employee Engagement committee work such as bargaining committees, departmental communications concerns and recognition opportunities.
Collaborate and participate in leadership activities associated with other T&I departments and other D&O departments.
Collaborate with national and regional production partners to develop relationships which strengthen the department’s reputation.
