Job Purpose
As the Director of Global Benefits, you're first mission will be to transform the Benefits function to a Global platform managing our US and UK programs. You will lead, inspire, and motivate a team of professionals in the US and UK, and oversee aspects of the Global Benefits programs working closely with the Global Total Rewards teams.
This includes providing leadership, guidance and direction while ensuring the regional deployment of the company's benefits programs including annual benefits and flex enrollment, with a specific focus on improving the quality & execution of the process. Regularly consulting with internal stakeholders to interpret plan and policy provisions and solve/resolve highly complex situations.
This role has strong growth and development potential within the Reward organization and specifically the US. We are looking for a highly motivated self-starter individual who is passionate about Benefits, likes to challenge the norm, reduce complexity and is keen to progress into a longer-term career in reward. Please note this is a hybrid role and can sit in either our Brooklyn or Waltham office.
About you
You are an exceptional leader and will provide direction in the execution of the company's Benefits programs to ensure alignment with company's goals, initiatives, and budget.
You will make material improvements in the effectiveness and efficiency of core Benefits processes across the Group.
You have experience in effectively guiding your team of professionals through the transformation of a successful transition to a sustainable Global Benefits function.
You thrive on collaborating closely with external vendors and consultants and internal key stakeholder groups including but not limited to Employee Services, Absence Management, People & Culture, Labor Relations, Finance, Treasury, and Tax.
You will further develop and execute our Digital Benefits platform, maintain all relevant program content, and identifying opportunities to improve employee engagement and facilitate proactive and effective messaging.
You will support the Total Rewards teams to evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of Benefits programs, policies and guidelines to ensure they are market competitive, cost effective, and aligned with corporate goals.
You drive all levels of compliance including NI, Statutory Leave and time off, Private Medical Insurance, ERISA, HIPAA, all Plan Sponsor requirements including SPD's, SMM's SAR's, 5500s, and because we are multi-state, you will manage state, and local legislation and other government and regulatory requirements.
Working in partnership with external vendors and consultants to ensure the company is positioned competitively and stays current on trends/changes in both the utility industry and general industry.
Active participation in driving union negotiations relative to health and welfare benefit plan designs in support of the overall corporate and labor strategy.
Support rate case filings by drafting testimony and providing exhibits in support of the successful recovery of benefit cost elements in rates.
Providing oversight, expertise and guidance to the Employee Services group responsible for all benefit administration.
Playing a critical role in the due diligence process and comprehensive review of all benefit plans for new ventures, mergers, and acquisitions.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field required; Master's degree and professional credentials (e.g., CEBS) a plus.
10+ years of demonstrated knowledge and experience in the design and implementation of Benefits programs, corporate policies, and compliance practices for a medium to large international, unionized corporation.

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
