  Capital One's Enterprise Risk Management Team has responsibility for helping the overall organization identify, manage, and mitigate key risks that may keep the company from achieving its strategic objectives. Managing risk is for our businesses, our customers, our communities and our associates. ERM is currently hiring for a Director to join its Risk Advisory & Oversight team. The Director will have the opportunity to apply their risk management and analytical skills to some of our highest profile Risk Management projects, including implementing solutions to ensure Capital One's continued stability and success.

  General Responsibilities:

  Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is seeking a Director to support two critical programs:

  Corporate Development and Growth Ventures Risk Management Support:

  ERM plays a critical role in Corporate Development and Growth Venture activities, which include potential mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, divestitures, venture investments, etc. The ERM Director:

  Provides general oversight to ensure appropriate risk management engagementServes as a functional area representative to support due diligence and integration/separation activitiesEvaluates deals to ensure alignment with Strategic Imperatives and Risk AppetiteSupports business areas in certain process elements related to key risk identificationProvides effective challenge of key risk summariesFlags critical risks and/or concerns to Risk Management LeadershipEvaluates level of effort related to risk management integrationProvides flexibility to support Corporate Development Growth Venture activities which often occur with short notice and tight timelines

  Strategic Risk:

  Partner with various stakeholders to assess and provide oversight of risk identification outputs

  Drive strategic risk alignment across various risk programs and business areasSupport the development of strategies to improve risk reporting and analysis using data and technologyEnsure alignment with risk appetite requirementsEnhance reporting tools, including strategic risk reporting mechanisms and key risk indicatorsApply strategic thinking to ensure well managed programs and continuous improvementDemonstrate strong business judgment and integrityCollaborate effectively across multiple stakeholders and organizations such as Strategy, Operational Risk Management, Compliance, Legal, Technology, Internal Audit, Regulatory Relations, etc.Write, contribute to, edit, and deliver presentations that aid in the design, development, refinement, and usage of risk management functions, practices, and activities

  Basic Qualifications:

  Bachelor's Degree or military experienceAt least 5 years of risk management experienceAt least 5 years leading a team

  Preferred Qualifications:

  Master's Degree (MBA or J.D. a plus)Experience leading insider threat, internal fraud, or risk areas in fintech, financial, or national security institutions (in private or public sectors)At least 8 years of relevant risk management, insider threat, or counterintelligence experience (or equivalent)At least 7 years leading a team
