What you'll be doing...The Director will be responsible for tracking Verizon and industry network technology plans and ensuring that the wireless device roadmap (across business channels) is enabled to support the technical and business needs of the corporation. This role will oversee the development of detailed technical requirements, hardware and software architecture to support the business requirements of the various device offerings.
This role also requires working with cross functional teams of Engineering, Operations, Product and many other functions within Verizon. The Director will lead a team that is changing the face of how Verizon influences the wireless and wireline Device ecosystem and its many constituents to drive differentiated customer experiences.
Business Impact:
Provides critical planning support for the Multi Billion $$ network capital investment through the planning of device specifications, network validation activities, network deployment activities, and device launch. Key projects include continued 5G, eSIM, VoLTE feature and performance support, spectrum planning.Provides test planning support to ensure billions of dollars of retail devices are available in the retail stores and enterprise channels.Provide critical technical support for the various device franchises providing $100M's of revenue.Plan, design, and enable device build of material cost savings.Key team responsible for the eUICC (eSIM) strategy. This strategy and execution for enabling this technology will provide for $100Ms of new revenue through wearables, smartphones, IoT and additional data devices. Strategy execution will also protect $10B's of revenue.Lead and foster key partnerships with tech giants like Apple, Google, Amazon, Facebook, Qualcomm, Intel, Major MNO's via industry forums, and major OEM's to successfully deploy this technology.Works with key modem vendors (Qualcomm, Intel, Marvell, Sequans, etc.) to deliver new features and products for the retail and enterprise channels.
Responsibilities:
Enabling the successful (on-time, below budget, quality) launch of new devices and services.The enablement of hardware and software subsystems through understanding and driving the supplier roadmaps, cost and technical specifications of the major components that comprise a device.Evaluate leading edge device technologies to determine the capability to enhance the customer experience.Tracks various components of the device ecosystem including h/w and s/w and their impact on the device (cost / size / performance).Develop device HW subsystem technical specifications consistent with marketing, network and industry standard requirementsFacilitate the productization of new device platformsTrack new network technologies. In addition to internal requests, the team will also review evolving standards, vendor proposals and industry publications as potential new features.Develop device technical requirements and test plans based upon the system analysis of the new feature.Work with 5G ecosystem and Enterprise product teams to incubate and accelerate validation of the technology.Problem-solve with senior leaders to deliver strategic insights and recommendations based on business analyses to senior leadership.Conduct periodic reviews of technology advancements and standards. Drive technology development and ideation in timely manner.
