Our full range of medical services include a new pavilion featuring enhancements in heart and vascular care surgery maternity cancer care and diagnostic imaging.
This position contributes to the mission of CHI Health by assisting in the planning, design, implementation, and maintenance of programs and policies related but not limited to patient care in Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Services. This position is part of the Cardiovascular Institute, and as such participates in system initiatives which integrate the delivery of all Cardiovascular and Pulmonary services. The director assists the organization by providing administrative oversight of patient care activities in Noninvasive Cardiovascular Diagnostics, Invasive Cardiology, Respiratory Care, Cardiopulmonary Rehab, and Sleep Diagnostics. The director assures patient and physician needs are met through the delivery of high quality services and efficiency. The director actively supports and participates in the governance structure to create an integrated, values-based environment at CHI Health.
Responsibilities
Has the authority to interview, hire, orient, terminate, promote, train and conduct performance reviews.
Assigns day-to-day work activities; directs the functional and technical job performance of team members.
Allocate and direct staffing needs to meet patient, unit and department needs, and collaborate with others to ensure overall staffing needs are met.
Manage performance including: setting goals, clarifying job expectations, monitoring performance, providing feedback, developing skills and addressing performance issues using appropriate tools provided.
Guides and directs personnel to include but not limited to RN’s, Rad Techs, Cardiovascular Techs, Ultrasound Techs, EKG Techs, Respiratory Therapists and Techs, and clerical staff in the delivery of patient care during cardiovascular and pulmonary procedures. Promotes the highest standards of care, assuring patient safety, comfort, and infection control compliance with internal/external regulations, policies and procedures.
Provides oversight of the daily work assignment process according to skill level of staff, physician needs, patient acuity and assessment, and fluctuation in case load.
Works closely with system, site, and clinic operations to effectively integrate cardiovascular and pulmonary services.
Coordinates and evaluates all new and future technologies related to cardiovascular and pulmonary care.
Promotes a positive and organized work environment that promotes employee engagement. Conducts performance appraisals, corrective actions and plans for improvement. Actively involved in selection, orientation, and development of staff.
Communicates problems/issues, department/unit status, and specific projects status to the Division Director.
Reviews and monitors cost center responsibility reports. Insures all patient charges, statistics and reports are completed within established time frame and meet regulatory compliance.
Maintains a high degree of discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information contained in reports, minutes, letters and other documents.
Develops and implements policies, procedures, and standards of care in conjunction with the Cardiovascular Institute and Pulmonary services.
Completes annual performance review assessments within proper scope of judgment and accountability. Note: if the director does not possess the same background licensure as their clinical staff members, they must have peer reviews completed for staff members to ensure clinical competence is met and validated.
Works closely with Medical Directors and administration to achieve Cardiovascular Institute goals.
Accepts responsibility for assigned system activities and works towards full integration of the cardiovascular Institute.
Participates in all safety, security and infection control programs that are mandatory as well as those required and provided by the department.
Demonstrates work practices consistent with CHI Health and department-specific safety, security and infection control policies.
May acts as subject matter expert within a given subservice to assist in managing services and initiatives across the MBO.
Other duties as assigned by leader and organization.
Qualifications
Required Bachelor's Degree. Master's strongly preferred.
Registered / Certified as one of the following: Cardiac Invasive Specialist (RCIS), Radiologic Technologists (AART-®, Nurse with a License in Nebraska or Iowa, Ultrasound Technologist, Respiratory Therapist.
If incumbent possesses an ARRT-R, then they possess a Medical Radiographer License in NE, Diagnostic Radiographer Permit in Iowa to practice, as a radiographer, license, permit must be heled in the state in which you practice.
BLS certification is required upon hire. Acceptable credentialing codes and certifications include the following: American Red Cross: CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, American Safety and Health Institute: CPR, PRO must say “Professional Level-with AED”, and American Heart Association: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
Pay Range
$40.56 - $58.81 /hour
