POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Development is responsible for soliciting/securing annual and major gifts through identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major gift prospects and donors. S/he will help build a professional development operation and analyze data to delineate the best prospect strategies, with the ultimate goal of closing the gift. For Annual Gifts, this individual will organize and develop a sustaining gifts program, including direct mail, online giving, membership and commemorative gifts and assist in the design and implementation of a Grateful Patient program. He/she will lead the employee campaign, board giving, and identify new volunteer and financial support opportunities from patients and friends with the goal of expanding the number of major gift donors for Finger Lakes Health. He/she will look for opportunities to move individuals from prospects to donors, and to upgrade donors to higher levels of engagement and giving over time. S/he will research, develop, submit and report on grant proposals. This individual will monitor and manage the Foundation's online presence. He/she will carefully utilize prospect identification software, utilize the Foundation's software and database to track moves, and monitor results and conduct analysis develop effective work plans and increase S/he will recruit, support and engage three Auxiliaries in fundraising activities and serve as FLH liaison to Auxiliaries. He/she must understand the absolute importance of sensitivity in working with the public, showing courtesy and care to all. He/she must help foster a donor-focused work environment to advance the mission of Finger Lakes Health and the community it serves.

Minimum:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education.

PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS:
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Minimum:
three years of fund-raising experience.
Relevant experience includes a track record of developing, implementing, and coordinating annual giving programs;
strong knowledge of electronic and conventional membership marketing campaigns;
direct experience engaging donor prospects and conducting face-to-face donor solicitations;
and a proven track record of closing gifts and other development achievements.
The ideal candidate will be proactive, self-directed, highly motivated, and work with energy to accomplish goals.
Must demonstrate personal integrity and the ability to inspire confidence and trust.
Preferred:
Five Years of fund raising experience.
