PURPOSE OF POSITION: New hire Qualified Diesel Mechanic will receive a $15,000 signing bonus. In this role you will inspect, service, and maintain diesel locomotives in accordance with governmental and company regulations. POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES: Diagnose diesel engine malfunctions and make indicated repairs using hand tools, measuring instruments and sometimes machine tools Inspect, maintain, and repair locomotives, including air brakes, diesel engines, and air compressors Perform air brake tests Operate welding equipment to cut or make necessary repairs Other duties as assigned POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Preference given to those with a Journeymen diesel, Heavy-Duty, Industrial Electrician, Truck, Farm Implement Mechanics or related fields Automotive Technicians and Electricians will also be considered with apprenticeship credits offered for prior work experience Strong problem solving and computer skills Must be able to work within strict established safety and work guidelines/rules to complete job Will be required to have obtained all CPKC certification pertaining to specific tasks and assignments CPKC operates 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; must be able to work on various shifts and days off WHAT CPKC HAS TO OFFER: Flexible and competitive benefits package Employer Funded Retirement Plan Annual Fitness Subsidy Part-time Studies Program Medical Requirements: CPKC is committed to the safety and health of its employees and the general public.
