Fabricate, finish and evaluate quality of precious gems and diamonds used for jewelry. Examine gems for accuracy of angles and position of cuts. Assign clarity grades to precious and semi-precious stones according to established grading systems using refractometers, microscopes, and other optical instruments. Estimate both wholesale and retail value of gems, following pricing guides, market trends and other factors.
