Job SummaryThe Urban Health Collaborative (UHC) at the Dornsife School of Public Health, Drexel University is a multidisciplinary research center focused on improving health in cities. The Urban Health Collaborative invites applications for a Department Research and Business Administrator.The Department Research and Business Administrator will work closely with the Director, Co-Director and Deputy Director for Administration, along with UHC Research Teams on pre- and post-award research administration, annual fiscal planning, ongoing financial tracking and projections, and other activities that can support UHC strategic planning and financial goals. The position is responsible for operations including budgeting, purchasing, contracting, bi-weekly payroll, and pre- and post-award research administration for externally funded projects housed at the Urban Health Collaborative.The Department Research and Business Administrator will oversee the finances of the Urban Health Collaborative and provide financial analysis of general operating, personnel funds, and grant funds for the UHC to ensure financial compliance within the University and external sponsor guidelines. In addition, this position manages annual fiscal closing for the Urban Health Collaborative. This position reports to the Deputy Director for Administration.Essential FunctionsOversee department's research portfolio, cradle-to-grave, including managing all departmental pre-award proposal development and submissions and providing post-award grant monitoring and projections through to closeout, to ensure financial compliance.Provide managerial oversight for all financial operations, including regular reconciliations, tracking, projections, holding budget meetings, developing proposal budgets, invoicing, financial reporting, and overseeing fiscal year end closeout.Oversee Purchasing of the department and all SmartSource transactions.Manage bi-weekly Payroll.Manage Contracting with Office of Research and Innovation, and Office of General Counsel.Oversee departmental PCard program to ensure spending compliance within sponsored projects and University guidelines, as well as ensuring monthly reconciliation of PCard Statements are completed in a timely manner.Manage department Travel requests and reimbursement processes. Conduct trainings for departmental faculty and staff.Departmental Processing including, but not limited to Labor Changes, Summer Salary, Journal Entries, Tuition Remission, Payroll Resolutions.Assist Deputy Director for Administration with Financial/Dean's Office Annual Reporting.Other duties as assigned.Required QualificationsA bachelor's degree or7 years of research administration and budgetary experience in Higher Education is required.Experience submitting Federal (e.g. NIH) and Non-Federal Proposal Applications.Possess subject matter expertise (e.g. Uniform Guidance, Accounting Principles).Proficient in MS Office, particularly MS Excel and Teams.Experience managing a complex and diverse portfolio of research proposals and coordinating with national and international partners to successfully administer grants.Ability to handle a high volume of complex assignments while maintaining control and appropriate attention to program and budgetary details and deadlines.Possess excellent oral, written, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.Possess strong customer service focus.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.Preferred QualificationsExperience collaborating and communicating with non-English speakers and international collaborators preferred.Ability to work with project management software (Smartsheet and Basecamp) preferred.Experience with Drexel systems preferr d.Physical DemandsTypically sitting at a desk/tableLocationUniversity City - Philadelphia, PAAdditional InformationThis position is classified as exempt, grade of L. Compensation for this grade ranges from a minimum of $62,630.00 to a maximum of $93,950.00 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
