Job Description
The Database Admin shall be responsible for the installation, configuration, upgrades, administration, monitoring, and maintenance of multiple databases. The Database Admin shall maintain existing databases, monitor, and improve database performance for future expansion requirements. The Database Admin shall also help develop, configure, and execute plans for redundancy and disaster recovery as well as security and safeguarding of the databases. The Database Admin shall be able to debug issues that are part of a production Windows desktop application environment. Issues involving improving performance on a query, timely inserts of data using bulk- loading techniques, and recovery of databases are routine tasks that are in the daily work of the contractor. As this is a production environment, the contractor is expected to ensure 24/7 operation of the databases. Identified issues will be reported to the Government PM and addressed within 24 hours. The Database Admin shall be available for O&M support, available and on-call, as needed, for mission critical hardware and software issues.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Bachelor's degree or higher in Software Engineering/Development or equivalent of, and two (2) years or more experience as a Database Administrator. In lieu of education, eight (8) plus years of specialized work experience as a Database Administrator.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Experience in the day-to-day operation, maintenance, installation, management, and troubleshooting of Microsoft SQL and PostgreSQL or other relational databases. Previous work experience in a production environment supporting MS SQL, PostgreSQL or other relational database that was accessed by at least 50 endusers. Previous work experience with large-scale databases (billions of items) in an MS SQL, PostgreSQL or other relational database environment. Proficient in the creation and optimization of stored procedures, modeling of databases, and utilizing third-party tools (e.g., Red Gate). Previous work experience with coupling MS SQL databases to .net (4.0 and above) C# desktop applications (either WinForms or WPF).
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $89650 - $152460
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
