  The Data Scientist has a background in Data Science, or other quantitative disciplines, with strong technical skills. Extended experience in working with large and complex data sets to assist data-driven decision making is required. Also essential is the ability to design analytic frameworks with close attention to detail, to diligently validate and effectively present results. The Data Scientist in this position is required to constantly innovate, challenge assumptions, generate new hypothesis and process improvements, as well as collaborate with others towards shared goals.

  Your Day to Day:

  Work with large, complex data sets. Solve difficult, non-routine analysis problems, applying advanced analytical methods as needed. Works cover data exploration and requirements specification, processing, analysis, ongoing deliverables, and presentations.

  Develop comprehensive knowledge of BCBSMA enterprise data structures and metrics, advocating for changes where needed for consolidating resource allocations and program enhancement.

  Build prototype analysis pipelines leveraging machine learning algorithms, especially deep learning, focusing on forecasting/predictive models, optimization, and other ad hoc analysis.

  Lead BCBSMA’s internal and vendor-delivered Health Program ROI methodology, process, evaluation, and communication balancing methodological appropriateness, administrative efficiency, and market needs.

  Provide supports to ad-hoc data requests and analyses for various customer bases such as Health Care Services, Customer Solutions, Market Segment leads, and Sales, to help improve service delivery and enhance program design efforts based on financial measurement results.

  We're Looking For:

  Experience with data mining and advanced predictive modeling using python, pyspark, and other open-source tools for efficient implementation. Proficiency in using packages such as pandas, statsmodels, scikit-learn, tensorflow/keras is required.

  Deep understanding of operations in relational database management systems and leading cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), capable of querying and manipulating data using SQL.

  Experience with establishing robust monitoring/tracking mechanisms for pipeline operations to enhance ongoing quality.

  Proven problem-solving competence, proactive strategical thinking. Self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, experience to initiate and drive projects with minimal oversight and guidance.

  Strong time management and multi-task skills to execute on a variety of projects under specific time restraints.

  Ability to coach junior analysts and contribute to team growth.

  Strong Healthcare sector knowledge is preferred.

  What You Bring:

  Master’s degree required with a focus in Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field.

  Min. 3 years of Data Science functional experience (familiarity with Payer industry is preferred, but not a must)

  Salary Range: $114,240.00 - $140,800.00

  The job posting range is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs and affordability.

  This job is also eligible for variable pay.
