  Description:

  We are building a Data and Analytics team. This team will consist of both Data management and Data Analytics. For this position, we are looking for passionate, and Skilled resources in Data Science and engineering to build Data Analytics team from scratch.

  Research and analyzing data : 20%

  II. Design , Build and implement New Predictive models.: 20%

  III. Automation, fine tuning and Production/Hardening of Codes and existing models: 30%

  IV. Coordination and Gathering requirement from different business domains . 15%

  V. Presentation of results to Business and others : 15%

  • Core: Advanced Python coding skills: Ability to create predictive models in python and automate these models in production.

  • Core: Both conceptual and hands-on Statistics and predictive modeling skills

  • Verbal and Written Communication skills

  • Advance Data Engineering skills

  • Working experience in Databricks, and Power BI

  This is a highly skilled and challenging role that will provide ample opportunity for the selected candidate to lead and work with professional statisticians and data engineers within business teams and we are looking for experienced candidates with the right combination of data engineering and data scientist rolled into one. As a lead, the candidate will set the tone for future expansion. Though we would prefer candidate with banking experience, we are open to candidates with non-banking experience for strong candidates. This is a hybrid role based in Topeka, KS with 3/5 days in the office.

  Role:

  Responsible for supporting the strategic data initiatives that drive business profitability, insight, increased efficiencies and improved customer experience. The ideal candidate is adept at using a variety of data assets to find opportunities for product and process optimization and using models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action. They must have strong experience using a variety of data mining/data analysis methods, using a variety of data tools, building and implementing solutions, using/creating algorithms and creating/running simulations. They must have a proven ability to drive business results with their data-based insights. They must be comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams. The right candidate will have a passion for discovering solutions hidden in large data sets and working with stakeholders to improve business outcomes.

  Responsibilities

  • Lead the Information Technology research, design and implementation of data analysis and reporting solutions to support business strategies across all functional areas

  • Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging data to drive business solutions.

  • Architect, implement, and monitor data pipelines, as well as conduct knowledge sharing sessions with peers to ensure effective data use.

  • Extract data from multiple sources, using machine learning tools to organize data, process, clean, and validate the data.

  • Enhancing data collection procedures to include all relevant information for developing analytic systems.

  • Applies analytical rigor and statistical methods to analyze large amounts of data, using advanced statistical techniques such as predictive statistical models, customer profiling, segmentation analysis, and data mining to support business strategies.

  • Create data visualizations and presentations to communicate findings to non-technical stakeholders to assist with strategic decision making.

  • Assess the Information Technology effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques.

  • Discover trends and patterns and present data using various data visualization techniques and tools.

  • Work with Information Technology team members and business leaders to investigate technologies and tools for developing innovative solutions to increase automation, increased efficiency, and improved decision making.

  • Stay up to date with the latest trends and best practices in data analysis and machine learning

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  Expectations:

  Collaborate with stakeholders and understand key business priorities and challenges to design the right actionable data and analytics solution to address needs.

  Communicate complex data in a simple, actionable way.

  Analyze and interpret large and complex data sets to assist stakeholders throughout the organization distill insights; connect disparate insights into cohesive, well-grounded recommendations.

  Assist stakeholders throughout the organization apply predictive modeling techniques to optimize the forecasts for planning needs.

  Assist stakeholders in presenting data findings and insights across most levels of leadership in a compelling way that facilitates discussion and lead to decisions.

  Program and write maintainable and well-documented scripts/applications for process automation; produce reusable models.

  Leverage programming skills to develop automated solutions that help improve business operations.

  Socialize the importance of data governance and ethics and ensure consistency around data quality through process improvements.

  Work closely with Information Technology Business Technology teams to maintain technologies, manage code within repositories, maintain appropriate documentation of solutions, perform testing to ensure accuracy of results, maintain governance processes, and continuously mature processes to align with industry best practices.

  Work closely with Internal Audit, Enterprise Risk Management, and cross functional business departments to ensure consistent application of practices across the business

  Ability to work independently and with team members from different backgrounds to proactively evaluate data from wide variety of sources, make predictions, and identify potential business opportunities.

  Continuous commitment to education and awareness of industry best practice solutions for data analysis and automation.

  Protect business records created or used in business processes to ensure availability, confidentiality, integrity; and the retention and destruction as specified by relevant policies.

  Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, ability to solve problems, memory for details, ability to prioritize, and ability to maintain concentrated mental and visual attention for sustained periods.

  Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) by taking actions that are consistent with the DEI program. Provides reporting to the Office of Minority and Women Inclusion (OMWI), as needed, as well as partners with OMWI to implement effective policies and procedures that incorporate DEI into business activities.

  Knowledge and Skills:

  Experience: Five to Seven years of similar or related professional experience.

  Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Analytics, Statistics, or related field.

  Interpersonal Skills: The ability to motivate or influence others is a material part of the job, requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job.

  Other Skills:

  Five to seven years of experience transforming and analyzing data from multiple sources to drive business insights

  Five to seven years of experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python, SQL, etc.)

  Knowledge and experience with data science toolkits such as Matplotlib, Pandas, NumPy, and GitHub

  Two to five years of experience with visualization tools and data spreadsheets, including Cognos, Power BI and Excel

  Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques, algorithms, and their real-world advantages/drawbacks

  Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts and experience with applications.

  Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  Working knowledge of statistical models and business intelligence

  Self-starter and intellectual curiosity to seek solutions without direction

  Excellent communication skills and experience successfully partnering with both technical and non-technical stakeholders within the business to drive improved outcomes for the business through analytics.

  Proven ability to perform with a high degree of accuracy and detail orientation

  Proven ability to deliver presentations to stakeholders that tell a compelling story using analytics relevant to the audience.

  Passion for continuous learning

  Strong project management skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

  Prefer two or more years’ experience with Agile development methodologies

  Must be able to work and travel independently and use general office equipment

  Physical Demands: Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer. Occasionally stoops and bends when using files. Occasionally reaches for, lifts, carries, and handles relatively light office equipment and materials.

  Working Conditions: Clean, well-lit, heated and ventilated office. Remote work may be required during the implementation of business resiliency plans.

  Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  Strong communication skills - strong initiative and passion for data. Need to come from a traditional data scientist background and NOT a data engineering background .
