Yellowstone County is seeking a County Civil or Senior Civil Engineer to be responsible for planning, designing, and directing engineering projects including roadways, traffic controls, parks, and drainage systems; does related work as required.Examples of Duties:- Serves as project manager on assigned projects.- Oversees, directs and reviews the work of professional and technical project staff including consultants.- Establishes design criteria to be used by project staff and/or outside consultants.- Establish grades for streets, curbs and gutters, alleys or other paving projects, drainage lines and facilities, and similar projects.- Prepares preliminary and final estimates of work and material requirements.- Coordinates required advertising for bids.- Acts as a project engineer.- Researches applicable codes, regulations and requirements for assigned project.- Develops and oversees the development of construction plans and specifications.- Oversees and prepares changes as field conditions warrant.- Inspects construction site to monitor progress and ensure conformance to engineering plans, specifications, and construction.- Prepares change orders.- Reviews contractors' estimates and prepares/reviews progress payments.Minimum Qualifications:- Graduation from college or university of recognized standing with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.- A Civil Engineer requires two (2) years of within the field or any equivalent combination of education and experience totaling six (6) years.- A Senior Civil Engineer requires three (3) years of experience within the field while holding a Professional Engineer (PE) certificate or any equivalent combination of education and experience totaling seven (7) years.- Valid driver's license issued by the State of Montana.Equal Opportunity Employer.
