  THE POSITION

  Are you a highly energetic, enthusiastic, self-motivated individual with a love of the food service industry? Are you looking for a career in food service that is unique and rewarding? The Department of Corrections (DOC), State Correctional Institution (SCI) Forest is seeking a Corrections Food Service Instructor to join our amazing team. This position leads inmate workers in food service operations at SCI, Forest. If you have the required experience and have a desire to help inmates learn a trade, the DOC wants you to apply today!

  DESCRIPTION OF WORK

  As a Food Service Instructor in this position you function as lead worker by assigning, participating in, and reviewing routine and specialized tasks performed by inmates in the areas of pre-preparation, production, service, and baking. You also are responsible for ensuring proper control over inmates by enforcing custody and security regulations and inspecting all food service areas, equipment, and food for conformance with established safety and sanitation standards.

  Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  Full-time employment, 40-hour work week

  Work hours are 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, rotating days, with 30-minute lunch.

  This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

  Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $44,753 (before taxes).

  REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

  QUALIFICATIONS

  Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  Two years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation; or

  An equivalent combination of experience and training.

  Additional Requirement:

  You must be able to perform essential job functions.
