DESCRIPTION OF WORKIn this position, you will conduct interviews with inmates to assist with their adjustment to institutional life, address challenges specific to the correctional environment, and offer support and encouragement. You will provide consultation and guidance on resolving personal and family issues, facilitating conflict resolution, and addressing concerns that arise both within the institution and in the community. Your responsibilities will include developing and maintaining accurate records and reports for managing an inmate caseload. Additionally, you will employ a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to coordinate treatment plans, integrating programming, activities, counseling, and educational services to ensure optimal use of personnel and resources. This position works closely with a variety of teams, including psychological and medical staff, to seek guidance and ensure comprehensive support for each inmate.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time employment, 40 hours per weekWork hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Please Note: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $61,903.00 (before taxes).You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:One year as a Corrections Counselor 1 (commonwealth title); or

One year of professional counseling or casework experience in a correctional facility, and a bachelor's degree in sociology, counseling, psychology, social work, corrections, criminal justice, or a related field; orAn equivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year of professional counseling or casework experience in a correctional facility and 18 college credits in sociology, counseling, psychology, social work, corrections, criminal justice, or a related field.

Special Requirement:

You must obtain Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) and Pennsylvania Justice Network (JNET) certification within two months of employment and maintain certification for the duration of employment in this job.

Other Requirements:Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.You must meet the PA residency requirement. For more information on ways to meet PA residency requirements, follow the link and click on Residency.You must be able to perform essential job functions.
