About Associate Principal R&D Flavor Scientist - Golden Valley, MN

  OVERVIEW As the Associate Principal Flavor Scientist (Flavor Subject Matter Expert), you will have the unique opportunity to leverage your specialized knowledge, skills, and expertise to advance flavor category and technical strategies for the enterprise globally. This role is comprised of technical management of the flavor program and strategic technology development. Initiatives range from close-in commercial projects to long term technical projects. The ideal candidate for this role will have deep knowledge of the flavor industry, flavor chemistry and/or flavor applications. They will work closely with technical partners across the organization, the Sourcing function and external vendors. They should demonstrate deep curiosity and technical leadership. They will be required to apply strong critical thinking skills and creativity to advance businesses and the category differentially. The initiatives you manage in this role will provide you with an opportunity to impact GMI's businesses globally across a wide breadth of product categories. You will also have an opportunity to build technical depth, build internal and external networks and influence across the organization. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Global technical leader for the flavor materials category & technology program Lead and manage the flavor program for ITQ - program governance, manage vendor relationships, technical guidance to R&D application teams Support and consult to ITQ Application teams, globally, to drive forward core, margin management and innovation projects Partner w/ Sourcing to build and advance category strategy Flavor Technical Strategy & Project Leadership Build and advance technical strategies through partnership with the broader R&D teams, key cross-functional partners, and leverage of external partners. Identify, create and advance new technology and solutions for GMI in the flavor space. Lead technical, science-based projects & initiatives Connect technical expertise internally and externally to facilitate and deliver pipeline of solutions for GMI businesses On-going assessment of the flavor technical landscape MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelors degree or Masters Degree in Food Science, Food Chemistry, Flavor Chemistry or related field and 7+ years food product development or flavor development experience Ph.D in Flavor Chemistry, Food Chemistry, Food Science or related field and 4+ years of relevant food product development or flavor development experience Must have strong organizational, creative and time management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, strategic planning, and engaging leader skills Experience working with external vendors Demonstrated business savvy, acumen and ability to influence the business and cross-functional teams Demonstrated strong agile leadership & ability to pivot quickly Demonstrated leadership and initiative with the ability to work collaboratively to drive results Position may require travel (10%) PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Background in flavor or fragrance chemistry and/or flavor application Experience working in the flavor/fragrance industry Experience working on longer term technology team Experience creating technical strategies in a material category COMPANY OVERVIEW We exist to make food the world loves. Salary Range The salary range for this position is $104700.00 - $157200.00 / Annually. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
