Amazon's Legal Department is looking for a talented commercial lawyer to fill the position of Corporate Counsel to support Amazon Web Services ("AWS"), a dynamic and rapidly growing business at the forefront of cloud computing. This Corporate Counsel will be part of the AWS Sales and Marketing legal team and will serve as a trusted advisor to business leadership.This position is willing to hire in multiple locations, Arlington VA, New York, Santa Monica and Seattle.Key job responsibilitiesThis role will support the Global Deal Strategy & Programs (GDSP) organization, a fast-growing business that leads AWS's most strategic customer engagements across the world. Key responsibilities in supporting GDSP include negotiating and drafting complex cloud services agreements, innovating to modernize and scale our global legal support, and advising on local regulatory and compliance issues. This role will also participate in other AWS legal projects, including managing issues that arise in existing commercial relationships and driving simplification efforts.The successful candidate must be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, enjoy being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations. The successful candidate works well within a large legal team, but is also able to work independently on transactional and project work.We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:Seattle, WA, USA* Juris Doctor or foreign JD equivalent and membership in one state bar or equivalent.* 5+ years of transactional legal experience, including experience at a law firm or in-house* Familiar with IT infrastructure, outsourcing, telecommunications, or cloud services.* In-house experience at a technology or internet company.* Excellent organizational and analytical skills, ability to manage multiple projects at once and follow through, and a solutions-oriented approach to addressing issues.Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $123,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
