The coordinator must demonstrate a mature ability to understand and effectively communicate University policy. Preferred qualifications include demonstrated experience engaging, advising, collaborating, and cultivating connections with students and student organizations. Information technology, graphic design, audio/visual and social media skills, and knowledge of the Event Management System, and Engage (or relevant platforms) are strongly desired. A flexible schedule with frequent late-night, evenings, and weekends work will be required.

  Additional Information:

  Master’s in Higher Education/Student Affairs preferred. Excellent written and oral communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required.   Position Description:

  The Coordinator for Student Organizations and Resources is responsible for supporting the growth and development of Harvard College’s student organization network. This position will also assist the Associate Director of Student Organizations and Resources in the management of the Student Organization Center at Hilles. This position is responsible for the student programmatic use of the SOCH, including student organization event advising and support, room reservations, and undergraduate student staff supervision. The Coordinator serves as a member of the team participating in large-scale event management, student organization training and advising, and other priorities as assigned.

  Student Organization Support and Advising: Provides support and advising to Harvard College’s student organizations regarding effective organizational and event management to ensure student safety while also supporting student leadership and learning; interprets and clarifies College and University policies and procedures for student leaders; serves as a on-site staff person for late night student events; works with the Associate Director to ensure the registration and safe implementation of student organization events held at the SOCH. This position Serves as the Student Engagement liaison for Recognized Social Organizations, and will also manage all annual student organization registration process, annual training programs for recognized student organizations as well as the Student Activities Fair.

  Student Organization Center at Hilles Operations: Coordinates, in partnership with the Associate Director of Student Organizations and Resources, the use of the 50,000 square foot center by student organizations including office, storage, and mailbox allocations and on-site management of conferences, banquets, large late-night social events, rehearsals, and meetings; oversees initiatives to promote SOCH spaces and resources, working independently to increase the portfolio of student-led events and activities that take place in the SOCH; liaises with departments that provide building maintenance, security, housekeeping, and physical resources services; coordinates services and building use with personnel that share the building; manages and trains undergraduate student employees; provides on-site logistical support for Harvard affiliated departmental events as well as functions held by other constituents renting the SOCH facilities; coordinates mail and packages for over 450 student organizations.

  Leadership Workshops: Manages ongoing training for recognized student organizations with the Associate Director to develop and implement student organization leadership and skills-based workshops in the SOCH.

  Supervision: Supervises the selection, training, and development of 1 Graduate Assistant and 3 student interns. Other special projects as assigned.

  Work Format:On-Site Work Format Details:This position is based primarily on-campus, in Massachusetts. This may include in-person during emergency situations (if applicable).
