PURPOSE STATEMENT:
Under general direction, implement menus and coordinate food preparation and serve meals. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Cooking proteins, vegetables, starches, sauces and soups, etc..
Work collaboratively to prepare and present meals in a timely manner.
Ensuring ingredients are tagged, date-labeled, covered, stored, and rotated effectively.
Interact with clients in a professional manner, and communicate their needs to other team members.
Maintaining ServSafe food safety standards and following protocols and procedures precisely.
Utilizing kitchen and food production equipment to process ingredients.
Disassembling, cleaning, and proper storage and maintenance of equipment.
Clean up as needed; must be flexible and willing to take on any task needed.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent
Strong history of cooking in institutional setting, with healthcare experience preferred.
Ability to speak basic English and perform simple math.
Mobility to bend, stoop and work standing for long periods of time, and to lift up to 50 lbs.
Knowledge of use and maintenance of common kitchen tools and equipment.
Ability to follow standardized recipes, and to adhere to policy and procedures as directed.
Have a neat, clean appearance, with work appropriate hygiene and grooming habits.
Possess or be able to attain a ServSafe California Food Safety Handlers Card within 30 days of hire.
LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:
ServSafe Certification or similar food safety certification, where required by the state,
