Control TechnicianAvailable Title(s):607F-YYCSNPS - Control TechnicianBusiness Title:Control TechnicianEmployee Type:ClassifiedTime Type:Full timePosition Term:12 MonthPosition Details:Summary of Duties:The Control Technician position is responsible for performing installation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repair for a wide variety of complex HVAC systems, mechanical systems, control systems, alarm systems and metering systems to support building and campus operations; including support for the WSU Smart Grid Demonstration Project and the implementation and operation of the WSU Energy Management System and networked metering systems. This involves use of all types of electronic/mechanical test equipment, creative troubleshooting techniques and methods, personal computers, and programming software.Required Qualifications:• Completion of a two-year approved institution course as a Control Technician Trainee, OR four years of applicable experience in installation, repair, AND maintenance of electrical AND pneumatic control systems. Vocational OR trade school training in control mechanisms may be substituted, year-for-year, for work experience up to a maximum of two years.• Possession of, or ability to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver's license.Preferred Qualifications:• Complex computer knowledge in hardware and software applications, database, building automation technology, graphics, data acquisition, project file maintenance, record documentation, and client communication skills.• Computer knowledge and skills specialized to building automation systems, specifically HVAC equipment, lighting, alarm systems connected to HVAC operation, etc.To support WSU's ability to attract talent in a competitive job market, this recruitment has been approved for a hiring incentive payment of up to $5,000.00.
