Robert Half is actively searching for an earnest, resourceful Corporate Controller to join the innovative team at a prominent services company. In this leadership role, you will manage an accounting and clerical department. As the Corporate Controller, your tasks will include planning and directing all accounting operational functions, managing the accumulation and consolidation of financial information for internal and external financial statements, assessing accounting and internal control systems, and guiding departmental staff. The permanent Controller position is situated in the Sterling Heights, Michigan area.
Major responsibilities
Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed
Present executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports
Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis
Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management
Reviews deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations
Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly
Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Lead the operations of the finance department which includes accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation
Perform duties beyond formal job responsibilities
Drive the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure the timely cash collection
Requirements - BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required
Cash management experience
Deep understanding of GAAP Accounting
NetSuite experience
Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines
Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred
Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations
Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Notable analytical, quantitative and social skills
Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus
Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued
