About Content Designer

  Who we are:

SiriusXM and its brands (Pandora, SXM Media, AdsWizz, Simplecast, and SiriusXM Connected Vehicle Services) are leading a new era of audio entertainment and services by delivering the most compelling subscription and ad-supported audio entertainment experience for listeners -- in the car, at home, and anywhere on the go with connected devices. Our vision is to shape the future of audio, where everyone can be effortlessly connected to the voices, stories and music they love wherever they are.

This is the place where a diverse group of emerging talent and legends alike come to share authentic and purposeful songs, stories, sounds and insights through some of the best programming and technology in the world. Our critically-acclaimed, industry-leading audio entertainment encompasses music, sports, comedy, news, talk, live events, and podcasting. No matter their individual role, each of our employees plays a vital part in bringing SiriusXM's vision to life every day.

SiriusXM is North America's leading audio entertainment company and the premier programmer and platform for subscription and digital advertising-supported audio products. SiriusXM's platforms collectively reach approximately 150 million listeners, the largest digital audio audience across paid and free tiers in North America, and deliver music, sports, talk, news, comedy, entertainment, and podcasts. Pandora, a subsidiary of SiriusXM, is the largest ad-supported audio entertainment streaming service in the U.S. SiriusXM's subsidiaries Simplecast and AdsWizz make it a leader in podcast hosting, production, distribution, analytics, and monetization. The Company's advertising sales organization, which operates as SXM Media, leverages its scale, cross-platform sales organization, and ad tech capabilities to deliver results for audio creators and advertisers. Through Sirius XM Canada Holdings, Inc., SiriusXM also offers satellite radio and audio entertainment in Canada. In addition to its audio entertainment businesses, SiriusXM offers connected vehicle services to automakers.

  How you'll make an impact:

As a Content Designer, you'll help drive the vision for content and create cohesive narratives across multiple product features. You'll use your gift for words and storytelling to design intuitive experiences that delight our listeners and help them accomplish their goals. In this role, you'll work closely with a product team of designers, product managers, researchers, analysts, and engineers to build and evolve a world-class user experience for the SiriusXM app. You'll be challenged to innovate and differentiate our services within the competitive streaming market with your cross-functional partners.

The Content Design team is small but mighty. We're looking for a strategic thinker who is resourceful, flexible, and eager to help shape and scale up our content practice.

  What you'll do:

Collaborate with Designers, Researchers, Product Managers, Engineers, and Data Analysts to deliver compelling UX solutions.

Write clear and concise messaging across multiple touchpoints, including UI content, product names, error messages, notifications, and emails.

Partner with other writers to scale content across the experience.

Champion the content strategy perspective throughout the product design process and advocate for strategic decisions that improve the user experience and ensure platform consistency.

Identify user objectives and business metrics and test, learn, and iterate on content to successfully meet and exceed those goals.

Present work to stakeholders and senior leadership and communicate design rationale, process, and decisions while collecting feedback.

Maintain and document evolving content standards.

Be a great design team member - we make each other better designers by providing and being receptive to feedback, asking the right questions, and recognizing we each bring unique and valuable perspectives to the team.

Shape the product design process - we constantly reflect on how we work and rely on our designers to help us iterate and improve.

Evangelize user-centered design across the company.

This role doesn't have any supervisory responsibilities, but there are always opportunities to grow into different roles. Our team supports growth paths that lead toward management positions or continued individual contributor work, and we recognize the importance of both.

  What you'll need:

Note that aside from the legal right to work, these are not hard requirements, and you don't need to meet 100% of them to be considered. We don't require a degree because we know that good content designers can come from anywhere with the right drive and experience. We'd love to hear from you if you think you'd be a good fit.

Bachelor of Science in a field related to writing, design, or tech or equivalent industry experience.

3-5+ years of experience with content writing and strategy within the product design and development process - demonstrable via portfolio, use cases, in-market products, etc. Portfolios should highlight challenges you faced, how you collaborated with others, what you learned, and your work's personal, business, and end-user impact. TL;DR: We want to see how you think through complex challenges and articulate your process.

Familiarity with current UX/Service Design tools (we use Figma, but we can ramp you up if you currently use another).

Familiarity with project management tools (we use Jira).

Fluency with presentation software such as Google Slides or PowerPoint.

  Familiarity with component-based Design Systems.

Experience crafting conversational design for apps or mobile-first experiences.

A user-centered approach to problem-solving that leverages research, analytics, empathy, strong design intuition, and accessibility best practices.

An understanding of the various user-centered tools and frameworks for developing content strategy.

Interest in emerging tech, like AI experiences and large language models (LLMs), is a plus.

An understanding of today's standard design patterns and an awareness of when it's appropriate (or not) to deviate from them.

An understanding of information architecture and defining taxonomies.

Commitment to professional growth and learning.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to tailor communications to your audience.

Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

A habit of sharing your work at all stages to leverage the expertise of those around you.

  Patience, kindness, accountability, and curiosity.

Share our passions (music or otherwise) with our teammates. It's certainly not a requirement to be obsessed with music but many of us are and we love beginning meetings with "walk-up songs" and discussing our favorite new releases. Others on the team regularly share their love of video games, the outdoors, local food scenes, and more.

Must have legal right to work in the U.S.

At SiriusXM, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your background and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. We expect the base salary for this position to be in the range of $99,200 to $120,000 and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives. We encourage all interested candidates to apply.
