We have an exciting opportunity for a Construction Management (CM) intern to join our Facilities Engineering, Design, & Construction (EDC) organization in San Diego, CA.
In Facilities, we strive to be our Customers' Mission Partner and Service Provider of Choice and our CM Interns will have a key role on our team. Interns will work as part of a project team and be paired up with one or more construction managers, project managers, and project administrators. The CM intern will provide assistance on a diverse portfolio of projects, thus requiring excellent time management skills and attention to detail. You will assist in ensuring safety remains paramount at each jobsite and assist in coordinating construction activities in partnership with project stakeholders. Your ability to communicate clearly and concisely is critical to keep projects moving forward while maintaining positive relationships with all stakeholders.
For you to be successful, you must be comfortable operating in a fast-paced work environment with evolving requirements that will require focus and follow through on your commitments. A qualified CM intern will be organized, efficient, and always demonstrate a calm and professional demeanor.
Projects will be located throughout San Diego County and daily travel from sites is normal, therefore reliable transportation is required; mileage reimbursement is provided.
This position is available for undergraduate and graduate students to participate in supervised practical training in a professional field. Assists in the completion of routine and non-routine tasks; assists in the analysis, investigation, and resolution of problems; and assists in developing electronic and hard copy documentation as required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists in the management of construction projects in adherence with the contract documents.
Creates and/or monitors project schedules, timelines, and milestones from design phase through closeout to achieve goals.
Facilitates and/or attends various meetings including, but not limited to, project status meetings, project controls meetings, lessons learned, etc.
Utilizes various software to track schedules and budgets.
Collaborates with contractors, designers, security, EH&S, technical maintenance, and internal subject matter experts to address issues during construction.
Participates in the day-to-day activities of assigned functional area assisting in the completion of routine and non-routine tasks.
Assists in applying knowledge to analyze, investigate, and resolve problems.
Assists in developing electronic and hard copy reports, records, diagrams, and charts.
Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Job Qualifications:
Typically requires enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student at a recognized college or university working towards a degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, or related discipline desired.
Must possess the ability to understand new concepts and apply them accurately.
The ability to follow general instructions as well as organizational policies and procedures.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to enable an effective interface with internal professionals.
Experience with construction management related software (i.e., Procore, AutoCAD, Revit, Blubeam, MS Project, etc.).
Ability to read and interpret contracts, technical plans, specifications, and regulations.
Understanding of MEP systems (electrical distribution, HVAC systems, plumbing systems, etc.) desirable.
Familiarity with manufacturing processes and laboratory settings.
The ability to work independently or in a team environment.
Strong computer skills.
This position pays at an hourly rate of $26.00
