Description:
Construction Inspectors will be assisting in the design of transportation projects. Some duties include:
Use AutoCAD Civil 3D to assist in the design.
Preparing roadways plans and profiles, traffic control plans, structural drawings, erosion control plans, construction details and specifications, and more.
Support project engineers with design tasks including preparing calculations, exhibit, and other design-related functions.
Review design plans and cost estimates.
Perform a variety of construction conflict resolution duties.
Provides quality control on pay estimates, documentation and communication with project personnel and contractor.
Provides input and coordination during design process to ensure appropriate methods and means are incorporated into construction projects.
Prepares monthly and final cost estimates, and maintains related project documentation.
Education/Qualification:
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field.
OR at least five years of experience in a paraprofessional engineering work.
Knowledge/Skills:
Thorough knowledge of the basic principles, procedures, tools and materials utilized in civil engineering
Skill in reading and interpreting engineering plans and specifications
Skill in making technical computations and calculations using computer software
Ability to work effectively with other employees, contractors, developers, consultants and the public
Knowledge of surveying principles, problems, techniques, practices and mathematics
Ability to interpret legal descriptions, plat maps, and other technical references
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other County employees, representatives of other agencies and organizations, and members of the public.
Pay/Schedule:
$45-$55/hr depending on experience
Project starts in February
Will last 8-9 months
