Job Summary:
Akima Facilities Operations (AFO) is looking for an organized and detail-oriented construction professional to fill a Construction General Superintendent role for a contract with the federal government.
Candidate will have demonstrated experience managing the field side of construction projects (productivity and quality), with experience using resource-loaded schedules. We have onsite management and a sub-contacted work force.
Job Responsibilities:
Ensures quality and schedules adherence for nine subcontractor companies.
Work with Project Manager and subcontractor superintendents to ensure safe working conditions and that work is being done in an efficient, productive manner.
Reviews construction plans and schedules with a proactive mindset.
Sets production expectations and holds subcontractor superintendents accountable if goals are not met.
Coordinates subcontractor activities daily.
Ensures that all work done by the subcontractors is within the contracted work scope and is in accordance with drawings and specifications.
Documents project progress, issues, and delays via email.
Works closely and effectively communicate with the AFO Project Manager and Project Coordinator.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience in managing union and non-union craft labor.
2 years of experience running construction projects using subcontractors.
Adept at using MS Outlook and Excel.
Ability to read, analyze, help prepare and maintain resource-loaded schedules in conjunction with AFO Scheduler.
Desired Qualifications:
Former craft labor member, with federal construction program experience.
OSHA 30 certified.
Experience in running construction projects on a government facility.
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office suite of products.
Adept at comprehending and updating Microsoft Project schedules.
Adept at using computers (use of a laptop computer to update daily reports for each project).
