Brief Position Overview
The Enterprise Services Group ( ESG ) is responsible for technical support, software development, and integration of all major computer-based administrative applications for the four-campus MSU system. MSU’s core Enterprise Resource Planning system is Ellucian’s Banner product, hosted in an Oracle database. Primary modules include Human Resources (HR), Finance, Student, and Financial Aid. In addition to payroll processing, key HR operations include areas such as benefits, position control, and budgeting. Ancillary systems and integration of those platforms is a key responsibility of the ESG team.
Supporting four-campus Banner HR operations, the ESG HR support team consists of:

Position Details
General Statement
The Enterprise Services Group ( ESG ) is responsible for technical support, software development, and integration of all major computer-based administrative applications for the four-campus MSU system. MSU’s core Enterprise Resource Planning system is Ellucian’s Banner product, hosted in an Oracle database. Primary modules include Human Resources (HR), Finance, Student, and Financial Aid. Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Director of Enterprise Services, the Lead Systems Analyst performs professional level work implementing and supporting the on-going operations for the Ellucian Banner HR information system and for related custom applications and workflows used with the HR information systems across the four-campuses of Montana State University.
The Lead HR Systems Analyst will:
Collaborate directly with HR business counterparts to identify priority development and support efforts for HR Information Systems across MSU campuses.
Foster positive and effective working relationships.
Provide systems analysis including assessing user requirements, analyzing alternatives, designing preferred solutions, specifying technical requirements, developing software components, implementing solutions, and maintaining major software systems.
Manage projects and tasks associated with development and maintenance efforts.
Coordinate technical problem resolutions.
Banner Security
Supervise five FTE technical staff performing related duties.
Participate in joint efforts with other Banner teams and committees that interface or interact with Banner HR systems.
Serve on university committees to provide leadership and technical counsel.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, plus recent directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Successful experience analyzing, designing, specifying, developing, programming, enhancing, and implementing complex administrative application systems that use relational database management systems and transaction processing techniques.
Demonstrated ability to foster and maintain effective working relationships with varied constituents using appropriate interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated understanding of, and current intermediate or expert experience in applications programming with an emphasis on SQL , PL/ SQL , and/or database-driven programming with modern software development tools.
Successful experience managing multiple projects, prioritizing user requests, and delegating tasks to team members.
Successful experience hiring, training, supervising, and mentoring technical staff.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Experience with university ERP systems (Ellucian Banner preferred).
Experience with design, development, and deployment of integration components.
Experience with design, development, deployment, and maintenance of applications employing ORACLE enterprise-wide relational database management systems, SQL , PL/ SQL , or other modern software architecture.
Experience using reporting development tools.
