How you make a difference
The Competency Intervention Specialist (CIS) is primarily responsible for delivering competency restoration services to groups, including psychosocial assessments, individual solution-focused treatment, and family contact. The CIS ensures accountability through accurate documentation and active participation in the Quality Improvement program. Additionally, they provide mental health consultation to Facility/Unit personnel, fostering effective communication and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
• Provides direct clinical services and consultation, following facility policies and professional standards, and reports to the Mental Health Coordinator.
• Collaborates effectively with facility staff, patients, and outside support agencies as directed by the Mental Health Coordinator, maintaining patient confidentiality according to applicable laws and guidelines.
• Conducts individual and group psychotherapy/counseling, crisis intervention, consultation services, and training to promote positive mental health outcomes for patients.
• Ensures accurate documentation of treatment progress, completes regular reports, and participates in staff meetings, training programs, and quality improvement activities.
• Participates in specialized clinical services, program development, and maintains compliance with employee standards, fostering a professional working environment.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
Master's level degree in Social Work, Counseling or closely related behavioral science field from an accredited college or universityExperience
Coursework and professional experience that indicates knowledge of mental health counseling, group and individual psychotherapy, assessment and treatment of major mental disorders, crisis intervention, and mental health consultationLicenses/Certifications
