This person will plan and implement youth engagement activities within White Earth, with a goal of supporting youth into health careers, and will help ensure the stability and longevity of the University of Minnesota physician team working within the White Earth Indian Health Service. The Community Health Liaison will be employed through the University of Minnesota's Center of American Indian and Minority Health (CAIMH), with work happening remotely from the University of Minnesota campuses and occurring on the White Earth Reservation. All UMN employees are expected to follow applicable public health and safety procedures. Reporting Relationship: The Community Health Liaison in White Earth is appointed by and serves at the discretion of the Director of the Center of American Indian and Minority Health. Duties/Responsibilities: 70%: Community Engagement, Outreach, and Education Develop collaborative, White Earth community-centered, and community-led health workforce and health education relationships Develop and execute community health events within the White Earth community with a focus on encouraging health promotion, health education, and health workforce development Support Indigenous health education for UMN faculty and learners working in the White Earth community and within the White Earth Indian Health Service Partner with the White Earth community, CAIMH educators, faculty, and staff to support education across the continuum (students, residents, fellows and program directors on issues related to social and structural determinants of health 20%: Stakeholder Relationships, Communication and Connection Promote an inclusive, antiracist, and just culture for all learners through health education Attend weekly White Earth Programmatic Meetings Attend ad hoc Education and Project Meetings Facilitate Community & CAIMH Meetings 10%: Program Monitoring and Evaluation Implement evaluations of community events Implement educational trainee surveys Develop educational content Other Information: This is a part time position. 0.75 FTE/30 hours a week. Salary range is $45,000-$60,000 annually at .75 FTE Qualifications All required qualifications must be included in the application materials Required Qualifications: BA/BS and/or at least 4 years of experience or a combination of related education and experience to equal 8 years. Valid driver's license and ability to transit between locations in the White Earth community. Preferred Qualifications: The Community Health Liaison must demonstrate a commitment to improving the representation of Native American people in the health care workforce. The candidate should demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and foster a culture of anti-racism and health equity for University of Minnesota trainees and faculty through education and relationship building. Prior training or experience in community or public health initiatives within a Native American community or communities.
