DTMB is seeking a communications professional to serve as the chief strategist for all internal communications. This position operates as the recognized expert for employee communications, working with the communications director to advise the department director and senior leadership team on strategies that drive department culture and foster employee knowledge and engagement.
What you'll do:
Serve as the recognized expert for communications to staff, working with the communications director to advise the department director and senior leadership team on strategies that drive department culture and employee knowledge and engagement.
Develop and execute creative strategies and tactics to that engage, inform, and inspire DTMB team members.
Use your outstanding writing background and strong grasp of Associated Press Stylebook guidelines to develop and distribute newsletters, website content, executive summaries, talking points and more.
What you'll bring:
At least 4+ years of proven success in the communications field.
A solid writing background, with a strong grasp of Associated Press Stylebook guidelines.
A passion for public service and employee communications and engagement.
An ability to work collaboratively within a team, think creatively and strategically, and
Additionally, these are the preferred qualifications that would indicate a particularly strong candidate:
Experience with in-person and digital event planning and management, using platforms such as Microsoft Teams and/or Zoom.
Knowledge of graphic design and layout principles using platforms such as Canva and Adobe InDesign.
Strategic planning experience, particularly with the development and execution of organization-wide mission, vision, values, and goals.
The position also serves as the communications expert to the DTMB executive team in developing communication strategies specific to internal audiences. This position also embarks on a wide variety of special projects from the executive team in support of the department's and state's vision and values.
Required Education and Experience

Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, broadcasting, telecommunications, advertising, or communication arts.
Experience
Four years of professional experience in the communications field equivalent to a Communications Representative, including two years equivalent to a Communications Representative P11 or one year equivalent to a Communications Representative 12.
