About Communications Manager, Office of the Chief People, Policy & Purpose Officer

  Why You’ll Love Cisco:

We change the World; you will become passionate about your employer and the brand you represent. Everything is converging on the Internet, making networked connections more meaningful than ever before in our lives. Our employees' groundbreaking ideas impact everything. Here, that means we take creative ideas from the drawing board to dynamic solutions that have real world impact. You'll collaborate with Cisco leaders, partner with mentors, and develop incredible relationships with colleagues who share your interest in connecting the unconnected. You'll be part a team that cares about its customers, enjoys having fun, and you'll take part in changing the lives of those in our local communities. Come prepared to be encouraged and inspired.

  What You'll Do:

You’ll help develop content and messaging for our EVP, Chief People, Policy & Purpose Officer and overall People, Policy & Purpose (3P) organization, ensuring compelling and accurate messaging by working closely with subject matter experts and teams across Cisco.

We are looking for an Executive Communications Manager who will be responsible for preparing executive briefings and materials for internal and external events, developing and executing a social media strategy for the Chief People, Policy & Purpose Officer, and managing tracking and metrics for the Chief People, Policy & Purpose Officer’s media and events. The right person for this role will be an experienced, detail-oriented individual who has a passion for collaboration, communication, and helping to influence, educate, and inspire in support of our impact work within and outside Cisco.

  Responsibilities:

Prepare and organize briefing materials for customer/partner meetings, select internal speaking engagements, and external events, in close partnership with relevant account and event teams.

Build and execute social media strategy and content calendar, including brainstorming new ways to grow engagement and following.

Develop and manage tracking platforms for the Chief People, Policy & Purpose Officer’s social media and speaking engagements.

Create written content and talking points that accurately capture the work and objectives of the Chief People, Policy & Purpose Officer and organization, helping to amplify her unique voice and viewpoint.

Assist with developing and drafting a variety of internal and external messaging.

Help project manage a variety of Purpose-related partnerships led by the Office of the Chief People, Policy & Purpose Officer.

When necessary, travel with the EVP, Chief People, Policy & Purpose Officer to conferences, events, and speaking engagements both internal and external as primary communications support.

Help with the creation of travel agendas for select trips and conferences.

Collaborate closely with stakeholders across the company to ensure messaging is compliant and accurate for all written communications and interview preparation.

Help to influence and drive consistency and accuracy across Cisco presentations that incorporate our Purpose story.

  Who You'll Work With:

Ask a Cisconian (that’s what we employees call ourselves) the best part of working at Cisco, and 9 times out of 10 we’ll say, "the people."

This role will sit on the central communications team for the People, Policy & Purpose (3P) organization to ensure alignment with the overall Purpose narrative and communication strategy, reporting to the Director, Executive Communications. This role will also work closely with other members of the Office of the Chief People, Policy & Purpose Officer, including the Chief of Staff, Executive Assistant, and Writing and Content Leader. The Executive Communications Manager will also dynamically team with the other People, Policy & Purpose communications leaders and interact with leaders from teams across the company to develop and align messaging.

The People, Policy & Purpose Organization is an ecosystem of functions comprised of People & Communities, Sustainability, Social Impact, Government Affairs & Policy, Workplace Resources, and Country Digital Acceleration. This strategic alignment of functions and expertise ensures holistic care for the well-being of Cisco’s people, establishes Cisco as a trusted and valued partner to governments and global leaders, and extends Cisco’s reach to positively impact communities everywhere in alignment with the company purpose.

  Who You Are:

To be successful in this role, you’d be a role model who exemplifies our culture and is often appreciated for living our principles. You are a leader and thrive in a world that is complex yet begs for simplicity. Being adaptable and finding ways to turn the complex into meaningful, understandable, compelling, and personal narratives shows off your storytelling specialty - naturally connecting people and projects for the best outcome, driven by curiosity, and asking "why" as often as "why not?" Start with the big picture and strategically define how to achieve the goal, pushing boundaries and innovating.

Our Minimum Requirements for the role:

  · Bachelor’s degree

  · 5 years of relevant experience

  · Experience creating executive level messaging and talking points

  · Experience with managing social media strategy and messaging

  · Comfortability working with PowerPoint, Google Slides, and Keynote

  · Senior-level communication and marketing skills

  · Highly organized and excellent attention to detail

  · Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks on a deadline

  · Demonstrated ability to work effectively and flexibly in a rapidly changing, fast-paced environment

  · Positive attitude and self-starter with the ability to influence and forge relationship

  · Ability to customize messaging for unique audiences both internal and external

  · Experience with senior executives and team members with the creativity and skills to activate our leaders to discover and share important and inspiring narratives

  · Ability to build a communications strategy both for an organization and an executive leader in the space

  · A belief in the power of leveraging data and research to build compelling narratives

  · Finding the "yes" in the "no" and being creative in your approach, ideas, storytelling, and experiences

  Why Cisco:

#WeAreCisco, where each person is unique, but we bring our talents to work as a team and make a difference. Here’s how we do it.

We embrace digital, and help our customers implement change in their digital businesses. Some may think we’re "old" (30 years strong) and only about hardware, but we’re also a software company. And a security company. An AI/Machine Learning company. We even invented an intuitive network that adapts, predicts, learns and protects. No other company can do what we do - you can’t put us in a box!

But "Digital Transformation" is an empty buzz phrase without a culture that allows for innovation, creativity, and yes, even failure (if you learn from it.)

Day to day, we focus on the give and take. We give our best, give our egos a break, and give of ourselves (because giving back is built into our DNA.) We take accountability, bold steps, and take difference to heart. Because without diversity of thought and a dedication to equality for all, there is no moving forward.

So, you have colorful hair - Don’t care. Tattoos - Show off your ink. Like polka dots - That’s cool. Pop culture geek - Many of us are. Passion for technology and world changing - Be you, with us!

We will ensure that individuals who need help during the application process are provided reasonable accommodation to participate, to perform essential job functions and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment. Please contact us to request accommodation.

Cisco is an Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, genetic information, age, disability, veteran status, or any other legally protected basis.

Cisco will consider for employment, on a case by case basis, qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
