Purpose and Scope:
The Communications and Electronics (C&E) Technician Senior maintains and repairs electronics such as handheld radios, vehicle mounted radios and communication devices, Motorola Repeaters, manages code plugs, re-keys network devices and maintains remote tower locations. Lead and manage a repair facility and work crew with distinction, integrity and commitment to excellence.
Essential Responsibilities:
1) Perform installation and adjustments of communication and network equipment.
2) Inspect radio/network communications activities and devices, troubleshoot issues, and determine equipment operational status.
3) Test, align, and adjust equipment; replace and repair faulty components, and requisition materials as needed.
4) Maintain equipment maintenance records, authorized spare parts, supply stock, tool lists, and technical manuals; Establish maintenance requirements for support equipment, tools and spare parts needed to support repair effort.
5) Provide technical guidance to subordinate personnel.
6) Perform comparison checks on repaired equipment in accordance with OEM and contract quality control plan standards.
7) Consult layout drawings, utilize propagation software to improve network signal and constantly ensure equipment is properly positioned.
8) Position is on call 24 Hours, with a minimum of 4 hour response time. (Recall is a as needed only basis and occurs infrequently)
Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Minimum three (5) years of experience in electronics, communications, or similar field to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair handheld and vehicle mounted, communications, navigational equipment, and repeaters, and associated support equipment.
Must possess and or be able to obtain a Secret Clearance.
Prefer experience using, supporting, and troubleshooting a Contract Management System (CMS) Excel, High School Diploma or equivalent. Prefer Associate Degree in electronics, communications technician, or associated discipline . Prefer military MOS 25C or equivalent training . Additional experience/education may be required by contract or assignment . Excellent oral and written communication skills; must speak and understand English.
Ability to translate communication needs of employees/customers not versed in Motorola terminology into meaningful solutions for both hardware and software. Proficient in Microsoft Office software. Prefer knowledge of electronic material requisition systems such as DynMRO. Additional knowledge/skills may be required by contract or assignment.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
Ability to lift at least fifty (50) pounds and assist in lifting up to one hundred (100) pounds. Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable. Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions. Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions. Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
Experienced to safely climb/ascend to conduct repairs on vertical towers at a maximum of 95 Feet.
