Qualifications:
Three (3) years of experience in the Code Enforcement (health or building) field.Two (2) years of customer service experience preferred.High School Diploma or G.E.D.Must possess the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation Code Enforcement Officer License.Must possess a valid Texas Class C driver's license.Under general direction, the Code Compliance Officer investigates and enforces all applicable Town, County, and State laws as they relate to Town codes, zoning ordinances, and regulations. Protects the citizens of Prosper by performing inspections and identifications of property for substandard and objectionable conditions.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives immediate supervision from the Health and Code Compliance Manager.Position does not exercise supervision of direct reports.Essential FunctionsDuties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Uses critical thinking skills and professional judgement in abating code violations.Resolves conflicts using exceptional customer service.```{=html}
```- Investigates alleged violations of local and State laws, Town ordinances, or codes relating to environmental or public health nuisances, monitors mosquito testing, illegal activity, storage violations, loose animals, and other potentially hazardous conditions.- Inspect signs, fences, junk, branches, trash, and any other item that could present as objectionable material; collects illegal advertising signs from right of ways and maintains signs on commercial properties.- Conducts field inspections to detect the use of inferior materials as well as deteriorating conditions relative to the International Property Maintenance Code.- Consistently patrols residential neighborhoods and commercial businesses to identify illegal or unsafe activity and address problems.- Prepares and maintains accurate records, compiles data and reports, and utilizes information as witness for the prosecution in court cases; prepare, process, and issue notices and/or citations for violations of applicable codes, regulations, or laws and follow through with appropriate actions, to include photography of evidence.- Conducts inspections and follow-up actions of apartment complexes in conformance with the Multifamily Rental Inspection Program.- Investigates title information and tax rolls to determine property ownership; researches property owners, tenants, and vehicle owners; identifies discrepancies and addresses code violations to ensure compliance.- Communicates and engages with the public to address violations, answer questions, and assist with correcting deficiencies; drafts and delivers notices and letters to residents and commercial businesses.

```- Assists in review of current codes and proposed changes to codes; researches ordinances to assure compliance with surrounding cities.- Willing to work weekends and after normal business hours; may work on an on-call basis.- Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work hours is essential.- Perform such other duties as assigned.
Additional Qualifications:
Basic Animal Control Officer Certification issued by the Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) plus two (2) years of required experience- preferred.
Must possess or be able to obtain the International Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector through (ICC) Interna ional Code Council Code Certification within (2) years of employment.
Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.
Must maintain requiredcertifications.
Computer skills using Microsoft Office applications, Internet, Adobe Acrobat and conversion techniques, Microsoft Outlook, Permitting software and related equipment.
