  We are seeking a Technical Manager - Snowflake Administration to manage the day-to-day operations Ally’s Snowflake data platform. At Ally, the data that we use to make critical business decisions every day is the cornerstone of our success. The data stored in our Snowflake SaaS accounts is the cornerstone of our data platform. Our Snowflake data platform is the enterprise data warehouse, positioned to impact the immediate and strategic success of the organization, across all lines of business. As the subject matter expert in this space, your input will be sought when making tactical and strategic design decisions.

  The Work Itself

  Perform role of Technical Manager over the Snowflake DBA TeamAbility to think creatively and critically, and openly share your viewpoints in all matters related to SnowflakeMentor and inspire junior Snowflake admins, collaborate with senior Snowflake admins, and synthesize solutions in concert with internal customersThorough working knowledge of Snowflake administration related technologies:

  RBAC - Ability to read, understand and create Snowflake stored procedures and related objects to automate routine management tasks

  Snowflake data sharingSnowflake Infrastructure: Tri-Secret Secure, PrivateLink, SSO, SCIM, security and storageIntegrationsData replication, particularly when applied to a disaster recovery solutionVirtual warehouse management in the context of performance and cost managementData engineering topics: Tasks, Streams, Cloning, ETL, data maskingThorough working knowledge of ACCOUNTUSAGE and INFORMATIONSCHEMA views

  Engage and lead conversations with SMEs in other related teams (Active Directory, Okta/IDP, networking, cloud engineering) to create, test, and deploy cross platform technical solutions.

  Partner with Ally's Cloud Architecture, compliance, internal audit, and security professionals to ensure all Snowflake solutions adhere to approved recommendations and standardsCommunicate project status, blockers, and alternate solutions in a clear and concise manner to leadership teamChallenge requests that do not conform to the accepted standards and best practicesRecognize the difference between essential and non-essential activities; focus on activities that will have maximum long-term impactMaintain and design processes to proactively detect issues before they happen

  Manage and enforce standard Change Management processes and procedures

  The Skills You Bring

  3+ years of experience managing complex Snowflake accounts and a Snowflake DBA team/experience with technical leadership5-10+ years of progressive database admin experience including SQL / scriptingBS in a technical disciplineHands on working knowledge of networking and cloud infrastructure technologies (IPv4, SSO / OKTA / SCIM, Active Directory), particularly in AWSGitlab / CICD / code managementMust be able to effectively manage multiple projects with competing prioritiesEnthusiastic, resourceful, creative, and results-oriented with demonstrated problem solving skillsSnowflake and related cloud technology certifications, preferredPython, Machine Learning/AI, and data science experience, preferred#LI-hybrid

  Base Pay Range:

  Emerging: 110000

  Experienced: 145000

  Expert: 180000

  Incentive Compensation: This position is eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan
