  JOB REQUIREMENTS: Seeking students and adults with sports knowledge! TheCity of Onalaska is seeking to hire Coaches. Under the supervision ofthe Recreation Manager or Coordinator, employees are responsible for theoverall direction and oversight of any aspect associated with a sportsteam. Independently provides direction to players, assistant coaches,umpire/referees and spectators on issues relating to a team structure,practice plan set up and implementation, player positioning, team rules,the sport\'s rules and rule interpretation, schedules, equipment needsand use, safety of participants, and any documentation needed. EssentialJob Functions: Develops and implements meaningful and instructivepractice plans and/or lessons. Teaches participants the importance ofsportsmanship, cooperation, and teamwork. Teaches participants the rulesand regulations of the activity/sport. Leads practices and evaluatesparticipant\'s skill level. Develops team roles for assistantcoaches/volunteers and parents. Develops team guidelines. Distributesand collects program materials such as equipment, plans, uniforms,schedules and forms Responsible for the program equipment and thecondition of equipment. Assists with the set-up and cleanup offacilities. Reports injuries, facility hazards, and program concerns tothe Recreation Manager or designee. Responds to accidents andemergencies in an appropriate manner; administering first aidaccordingly. Attends training and organizational meetings as requested.Maintains communication with program participants, program and officestaff. Resolves conflicts between participant parents, participants,coaches and officials/umpires. Contributes to a cooperative workingeffort by demonstrating a willingness to perform other job-related work,as needed or requested. The interdependency of operations is recognizedand the abilities and skills exist to do other work as needed orrequested. Assistance is given to others and special projects completedas scheduled or requested. This is a recognized and accepted part ofbeing a member of the program staff. Physical Requirements: The workenvironment characteristics described herein are representative of thosean employee encounters while performing the essential functions of thisjob. Job Requirements: Student or adult with sports knowledge. Mustpossess supervision and leadership techniques/skills. Experienceplaying, coaching or being part of a sport or program of similar nature.Work with minimum supervision. High School diploma or equivalentpreferred but not necessary. Compensation: Wage range for this seasonal,limited-term position is \$9.00 to \$12.00 per hour depending onqualifications. There are no benefits associated with limited-termpositions.
