JOB REQUIREMENTS: This is entry-level Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)work providing direct and indirect basic nursing care followingindividual care plans for geriatric, disabled and/or cognitivelyimpaired residents at WVHK. Nursing care is provided in accordance withAmerican Nurses Association and gerontological nursing standards;federal, state, and Veterans Administration regulations; the mission,philosophy, policies and procedures of WVHK and the Department.Responsibilities include providing basic nursing care following awritten care plan to help meet the therapeutic, preventative,restorative, spiritual, psychosocial, cognitive and rehabilitative needsof WVHK members. This includes cognitive techniques to help maintain thedemented member at the highest functional level. Our CNAs are anintegral part of the health care team and work under the limitedsupervision of a Nursing Supervisor, with day-to-day direction bylicensed nursing staff. These are flexible part-time positions with theoption to pick up additional hours as desired with no required overtime.Shifts are available AM, PM, NOC, holidays and weekends. Candidatepreferences gathered at time of interview. LTE jobs are limited to 1039hours in a 12-month period and do not include employee benefits. Jobduties require the ability to assist in patient mobility efforts, standand/or walk up to 75% of eight-hour day to provide assessments, kneel,stoop, make visual observations, lift, push, pull, carry, reach,maintain hygiene, use special safety equipment, and wear protectiveclothing. Employment in this position is contingent upon passing apre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test. Due to the nature of thepositions, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to anoffer of employment.
